🎵outro music plays🎵. Hello again, everybody, and welcome to an all-new episode of Road Trip. After Hours Come on.
Speaker 2:Come on, give us some enthusiasm. Come on, I don't listen. I don't like that intro. Ladies and gentlemen, come on. I heard you coughing a lot, too, before we came on. Now what is that coughing all about?
Speaker 1:Man, I've had a rough couple of days. Teddy, you know this. The fact that I'm sitting in this chair right now is thanks to something called Toradol. That's the only reason I'm sitting here having a conversation with you right now.
Speaker 2:That's a good drug. I've had that before Toradol. It's good for inflammation and pain.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's really good Brother. Yeah, I've had some serious back problems and leg issues in the last couple of days here I mean the ER.
Speaker 2:So anyhow All right, let's see.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but we are Wrestling's Road Trip After Hours. I'm not as animated as normal because I'm trying purposely not to move a lot while we're talking. So, teddy, this is episode 99. This is the episode just before our big 100th celebration, and, of course, we have a very special guest on the next show you want to tell everybody.
Speaker 2:Well, you know I'm kind of glad you brought that up too, and you and I were talking early in the week about getting a guest for today's show, and you know I talked to you. We don't really need a guest today. I think we just need to talk about this 100 episode that's coming up. We got a big, major superstar, and I'm talking about none other than Trish motherfucking Stratus and the only reason I'm saying that is when you people see the video.
Speaker 2:That's the way Trish and I used to meet every day at TV. Had a motherfucking long and I was Trish motherfucking Stratus, so that was just ideal, and you'll get a chance that Trish will tell you all about that when you watch the 100th episode.
Speaker 1:That's going to be a lot of fun too. Teddy and I was trying to think back today, before we even came in, to record of the things that I can recall from the first 100 episodes, and I know there's one episode in particular, one moment of those 100 episodes, that I remember the most, and that was when you had visited Godfather's Table and ended up trying to come back, so why would that have to be the one that you only remember?
Speaker 1:That's the one that sticks out and so many people laugh and tell me about that. All the time they're saying, yeah, tell Teddy to turn the right way. It's funny how many people spotted it. They may not have made a comment, but they'll tell me in person. Tell Teddy to turn the other way.
Speaker 2:Hey, what's up players, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, and right here with my main man, me and Mac Davis here. You know where the camera is.
Speaker 1:You know where the hard cam is Look.
Speaker 2:Well, I walked over to Godfather's table earlier, so maybe that's my excuse.
Speaker 1:Well, we can always keep looking this way, but nobody will see what we're talking about.
Speaker 2:Hey, we just wanted to say good morning to everybody. He doesn't have a clue what he wants to say.
Speaker 1:Yes, I do?
Speaker 2:We just want to say good morning to everybody and let them know we're right here for the second and final day of Riverside Wrestling Con, and this has certainly been a great weekend.
Speaker 1:This is actually River City Wrestling Con, river City Wrestling Con.
Speaker 2:Say it again, River City Wrestling Con.
Speaker 2:He got it that time All right and we just had a great time this weekend. So this is the final day, so we're going to try to close this day out and hope we have a blessed day, like we did yesterday. And we just want to say hello to everybody and we're going to be coming back later on. We'll be. Hopefully we'll have some uh uh wrestling superstars to talk to you and say hello to you, but we just want to let everybody know you, we are here and if you're in the Jackson, uh, the um, st Augustine area visit Godfather anymore.
Speaker 2:No, I think I'm headed over there just as soon as I get there. We're out of here. Yeah, we're out of here.
Speaker 1:We are looking forward to it. It should be a lot of fun. Teddy, we had a lot of great guests too over those 100 episodes. My God, I'm trying to think of everybody and I'm afraid we'd leave somebody out, but we've had some fantastic guests, good friends of yours and mine, that have been on here and I just want to let them know. You know from Teddy and I both, man, we really appreciate that we have been really digging hard, trying to make this podcast work and make it something that you want to see each and every week. And without those guests and the friends who come on, Teddy, we'd be in trouble.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, man, and like you say, I hate to mention names, because I don't want to leave anybody out.
Speaker 2:But you know, we had some great people like D-Bone, Dudley, Conan, Ernest the Cat, Miller or JBL We've had in on our show and me and the boogeyman let's not forget about him the Godfather made a special appearance for us and man Eric Bischoff yes, Eric Bischoff, you know my old boss. So we've had a lot of, you know, great people to come on, and people don't come on your show unless you know they're real, unless they really care something about you. So I just appreciate every one of these people that came on, you know, before, and because they made all this happen, they made it possible.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, they are the reason why we're able to get to the 100 episodes. So all you people you know. So I don't miss anybody that has been on the Road Trip Show with Mac and I. Man, thank you very, very much, thank you.
Speaker 1:And not just our guests either, our viewers and our listeners, who come each and every week and share, you know, our podcast or the video on YouTube each and every Friday. Hey look guys, none of this, none of this I mean none of it would happen if it weren't for you. That's the fact and that's why Teddy and I work so hard each week to try to bring you something different. We don't want to do interviews each and every week, and there's a reason for that. The show was never designed to be just that, because otherwise you'd run out of people over time. So we like to talk and discuss about various things, maybe do listener mail, that kind of stuff. So you know, we mix it up quite a bit, but over the 100 episodes we've had a boatload of nice special guests, and so, again, go ahead and let's thank all our fans at Teddy that wrote in and put questions up for me to answer.
Speaker 2:Let's thank all of them, and we have had a lot of people to subscribe to us over the past month, so let me thank those people too. Thank you.
Speaker 1:Yes, very much so. Hey, look, you weren't talking about a former boss a while ago when I mentioned Eric Bischoff. Let's talk about another former boss, teddy. Netflix has confirmed that there will be a Vince McMahon documentary about his rise and fall. It's scheduled to come out on September 25th, I believe, and it's a six-part series. The documentary is considered to be one of the most controversial series in Netflix history and will include the sexual assault allegations, and the series will also include clips from over 200 hours of interviews. So you've got to figure they got six hours. They're going to whittle down from 200 hours of interviews about Vince McMahon and they had access to everyone and anyone, including Vince McMahon. Teddy, have you seen the trailer that came out?
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, I did get a chance to look at the trailer and I can't wait to see the whole thing because from the looks of the trailer it looks like they put it together very well and I'm sure it's going to be exciting because if they got Vince to sit down and agree to talk to him, then this was really something everybody should watch and everybody should see. But you know me, I'm a Vince McMahon fan, love the man, so, and, like I said, I looked at the trailer and.
Speaker 2:I started laughing because pretty much of it is the truth. It is him.
Speaker 1:You know, and for those of you who have not seen the trailer, we're going to give you a shot and take a look at it right here. People wondered who I really am. You know portrayal of me. I'm a bad guy, but no one really knows me In the world of professional wrestling. Vince McMahon he's easy to hate. What you expect? I don't fight fair. That's exactly what you're gonna get. It's not my fault that I happen to be a self-made billionaire. Hello everyone, welcome to All-American Wrestling. When I bought my dad's business, my vision was to make this mainstream. Welcome to Wrestlemania.
Speaker 1:Vince created this huge empire, billion-dollar entertainment juggernaut. He did things no one thought were possible. Everything he did turned to gold. There were so many scandals going on On trial for steroids. 90% of the wrestlers are on steroids. Another dead wrestler. This rocked the very foundation of the WWE. I would accept no responsibility whatsoever, none whatsoever. They live this lifestyle.
Speaker 1:Breaking news Vince McMahon is stepping aside the lawsuit accusing him of countless depraved and humiliating acts. I didn't think the lawsuit could shock me and I was floored. Me and I was floored. When it comes to Vince, a lot of that is a character. He's going to show you what he wants you to see. The lines of reality are very blurred in our business. The individual loses all sense of who they really are. My name is not Vince, my name is Mr McMahon, teddy. Now the trailer looks incredible and I've said this on another show just recently with you. That to me, the show with or without the sexual allegations that he had to go through towards the end of his career. To be honest with you, just hearing about Vince McMahon and the real story, because I think fans have been wanting to hear that unfiltered story of who is Vince McMahon this is the show right here.
Speaker 2:This whole deal is a movie within himself. I'm telling you.
Speaker 1:Now here's something that I do find interesting, teddy. This company, netflix, is running this, and you got to think WWE is not crazy about this documentary coming out because of the fact that you know of all the bad publicity that Vince had created, but it's the same company that is the home of WWE beginning next year.
Speaker 2:Well, it's out there now, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2:So I don't think anybody really cares anymore. You know what I mean. The truth is the truth. If the truth's going to come out, it's going to come out. If the lies are going to come out, they're going to come out. So we kind of know what's going on now. But like I always say, you know, the man is innocent until proven guilty. So we just don't have to watch this thing and see how it plays out. There may be some other people may come up, names may come up. You know that we haven't even heard about it, we don't even know yet. But, like I said, we just have to wait and see.
Speaker 1:Look, there's somebody else I want to talk about here, Teddy, Former WWE talent, Aiden English. I don't know if you remember him or not. He was in there for a short period of time. He's calling Jey Uso's booking an unfortunate joke, saying that Jey is one of the most popular superstars in the company, despite not winning any singles matches and since leaving the bloodlines, Matter of fact, he hasn't done anything and English said, quote he's like the uncrowned prince and the joke has been his main event Jey Uso that never wins the main event.
Speaker 2:I can't disagree with that, Teddy Well like I said, jey Uso and everybody else, when you go out there, you go out there and you do what you're told to do, okay, so I have no idea why they're using him like they're using him. You know I kind of agree with this guy. You know they're really missing the boat with him. You know what I mean. Why not give him, you know, a big run right there? So you know that I just don't know. You know that may come in time, we just don't know. But right now I agree with that brother man.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's surprising. I don't understand none of it. When I read that, I was like he's not telling any negatives here, he's being honest because that's the truth. Is how I see it. Since he left the bloodline, which was a huge thing for Jey Uso, nothing, the main event thing was big and everybody thought it, and the yeet is still huge, but for whatever reason he's not in the main event.
Speaker 2:And Jey Uso. If he hadn't have been in there, that would have to me this is my opinion wouldn't have worked. He made that work. Jey Uso was a big part of that.
Speaker 1:I agree it was his emotions and his storytelling through his facial, not just the wrestling, because the wrestling, especially in that storyline and the way he told this story and like you said facial expression.
Speaker 2:I learned that from Vince McMahon. He told me one time he said it's right here, right here he said, sometimes you don't have to say a word.
Speaker 1:Oh no.
Speaker 2:And I understood that. And then Michael Hayes came to me maybe two or three months later and he said to me he said, man, you're just good with facials.
Speaker 1:And I didn't never tell him what Vincent told me. I just said thank you very much. I can already hear some of the people in the background, some of our listeners going. He's good at facials. He just said that no-transcript. And Jey Uso delivered that at some of the most prominent times, really during the bloodline run, because without his settling those moments, those moments may not have been moments. He told that story. I sent you a video, teddy this is something I don't normally do and I sent you an AEW promo. Now, this promo was between Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland. They have had a I mean a back and forth. They had some great matches, bloody, brutal matches. These guys really tear up the house when they come into the ring. But this promo I want to get your opinion Before I say anything else. Tell me what your impression was of the promo of Adam Page burning down Swerve Strickland's family home.
Speaker 2:Well, I did get a chance to get it. I looked at all of it and I thought it was absolutely great. I thought that promo was great, it was real.
Speaker 2:And the only thing Adam Page is missing. And this is what I would have did. I would have had Adam Page wear a Privilege shirt and come out with that shirt on Privilege before he even cut that promo, because it went down those lines as I listened to it. It was down the line hey, I got Priv, got privilege, you know, and that's just the way of the world. Okay, and I thought that promo was great. It was real. And the only other thing I didn't like about it they should have had Hangman there. I don't agree with him being in front of the house or something. Have him right there.
Speaker 2:Even if he don't come in the ring, you send him on the rail. So that gives me, that gives word sprinkler. Now you know when he really says that by burning my house down. Yeah, brother, I'm at it, you know, and adam maybe stands there a little bit, you know, and he's coming like he's waiting to fight him. You know what I mean. And then adam takes off and don't let him touch him, but that's the only thing I think. I wish they'd have hanged me in there and, like I said, I thought that promo was great, but let's see how they use it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and these two guys, as I mentioned in the beginning. I know you don't watch, teddy, but these two guys have put on some fantastic matches. I mean, they have chemistry, it's oil and water.
Speaker 2:Well, that's money. And who's the guy that was with Squirt that's out there dancing?
Speaker 1:That's Prince Nana. Which word? That's out there dancing? That's Prince Nana. Prince Nana, he's been around and wrestling in Independence and stuff for a while and he's just like a side manager kind of things.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I saw him, but you know what I mean. Come on brother you know you're coming out with the word Strickland. You know you got to be a little bit more serious, stop jumping up and down like you're Steppenfetchched doing that old shit.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean. Well, you know the thing that I've thought about too, teddy every time I see Prince Nana come out with Swerve Strickland because sometimes I'm not sure if Swerve is the heel or the face, and there are times when I feel like he's supposed to be the heel and Prince Nana's coming out doing the dance and it doesn't mix well to.
Speaker 2:They don't seem to be on the same page.
Speaker 1:Yeah, now I will say this, teddy, about that angle on burning down the house. They had used social media prior to that. Very well, because during the day they let out social media that Swerve, strickland, had purchased his old family home, he was able to go back for some of the money he made for his contract. So you buy into all this. It was a setup for last night. That is what I like about how people think sometimes. That's how you can bring kayfabe in a sense to me back, because you can make people believe.
Speaker 2:Well, and you know what I would do too, because they got the money and Vince McMahon did it, they went with APA. You remember they did the thing in Timmy White, god rest his soul. They did the thing in Timmy White's bar, where they tore his bar and stuff, but Timmy didn't care, because they remodeled his whole bar.
Speaker 1:Vince McMahon, they got it.
Speaker 2:So here's what I would do. Swerve wants to rebuild the house. You know his old hometown house. I'd have hangman go right over there and set it on fire, I mean burn it down, make it real because AEW they'll rebuild it. You know what I mean. Put a new house right there. But to make the story real, this is Swerve's dream, just to get some money. In my entire life, if I get any money, I want to save my old childhood home and you have Hangman go over there and set it on fire.
Speaker 1:it well that's what he burnt down last night that's what he burned. That was that house. Yeah, that's the house he burned down, which is why swerve now is so pissed well, okay, we'll see that they got there was. There was a hit on me there because I didn't see the last part of it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I saw him standing in front of this house, but then I didn't look at the rest of. Well, you see what I mean.
Speaker 1:They're thinking just like me yep, yep, and that's what I like about it, because to me it had a little bit of reality to it and I think they need some of that outside arena shooting. Burn that house down man. Make that real.
Speaker 2:You know, involve some of his family. You know, let them go to the scene and look at the ashes and the burnt wood and you know, talk about, you know, this is why I grew up and this is why I did this, that you know what I mean.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, that would be good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, there's so much you can do right there. And I'm sure they'll continue to know how to do what I'm talking about. It's just that you know they don't care, they don't want to do it Not everybody, but it's true that the old timers over there yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like to see you know. Every once in a while they'll have a spark like that in AEW. It gives me hope that somebody back there knows what they're doing, because that was the way to end the show. My wife and I we watch there's a show called Stranger Things. Have you ever seen that, teddy? No, it's kind of a sci-fi, scary kind of thing, but at the end of each show they have a cliffhanger or some moment just makes you go whoa. That's how that show ended in AEW, with that house burning down last night. That's how you get fans to come back to watch more Teddy next week. Episode 100, my friend.
Speaker 2:Can't hardly wait, Blair.
Speaker 1:I can't either. It's going to be a lot of fun. We hope you'll join us. For those of you who are not aware, even though we mentioned this in the very beginning, our very special guest I want to cut you out two minutes, since we was talking on the ew right there and everything.
Speaker 2:We're talking about people that know what they're doing and I, like I said that there are people there that know this. But if I was some of the young talent, then this is just me I wouldn't. I would go to jake roberts, because jake roberts is going to tell you the truth, he's's not going to beat around and tear your head. Oh, great job out there and all that mess. And Jake Robert, you got there. I think Dean Malenko would be a good guy to talk to. I had a chance to talk to him a little bit and he seems that he's kind of a changed person now. I don't know, but, like I said, dean Malenko is a guy that can give him good information.
Speaker 2:Jake, just Nick Roberts and you know that those are my guys.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they've got a lot of people behind the scenes. Some of them have come and gone. Arne Anderson, I'm not sure if Dean's still there. Dean may be gone now, I'm not sure. Just recently they kind of filtered out some of the older guys because the contracts ran out. That's what I'm saying. You let guys go that have knowledge.
Speaker 2:These guys are not asking to be on TV. They ain't worried about trying to be a star, they just want to have a job.
Speaker 1:They're trying to help you.
Speaker 2:They're trying to help you, but that comes from people not wanting them there. I know all about that too.
Speaker 1:Next week, episode 100, trish Stratus will be our special guest and we look forward to having you come back and join us then, teddy, I enjoyed it. My friend, anything coming up for you knew we need to talk about uh, no, I'm gonna be kind of chilling out uh we're working on some stuff that may happen in the caribbean.
Speaker 2:Uh, been talking to mark henry and the guys over there that uh may be going there to do a big show. I'm waiting on my passport to come back. That's the thing. So as soon as I get there, we'll be talking about that, and if anything else we get coming up, man, we'll be starting to be talking about that but. I'm just really enjoying myself, me and Rupert, here at the house man, so we just having a ball.
