Speaker 1:

I was working in the lab late one night when my eyes beheld an eerie sight for my monster from his slab began to rise and suddenly, to my surprise, he did the monster mash. It was a graveyard smash. He did the monster mash. It was a graveyard smash, it caught on in a flash. He did the monster mash From my laboratory in the castle east.

Speaker 1:

To the master bedroom, where the vampires feast, the ghouls all came from their humble abodes To get a jolt from my electrodes. Then you can Monster Mash and you my graveyard smash. You'll catch on in a flash.

Speaker 3:

Then you can Monster, mash Monster.

Speaker 1:

Mash Monster, mash Monster, mash Monster Mash.

Speaker 3:

Mash Monster, mash you impetuous young boy.

Speaker 2:

Monster, mash Monster, mash Monster, mash Monster, mash Monster, mash Monster Mash.

Speaker 3:

Monster Mash, monster Mash, oh my God. Hello again, everybody, and welcome to an all-new episode. In fact, it's our Halloween episode of Road Trip After Hours. I'm your host, mac Davis. That, of course, is WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, and Teddy, I am looking forward to an incredible show today. We got a fantastic guest with us, somebody that I know, that you know.

Speaker 1:

Well, I know her very well. I had the opportunity of working with her a long, long time, through almost half of my career. Just to have her on here today. And one thing we messed up. You know she's just too pretty for halloween so we want to let everybody know. You know, she ain't got, she ain't putting on no makeup, no costume and none of that. This woman is just pretty, and so she'll celebrate her own halloween, maybe tomorrow absolutely.

Speaker 3:

Our special guest for this halloween episode is none other than wwe, superstar and back in the family now, victoria. Hello there.

Speaker 2:

Hi guys, hello, Hello. What a great intro, teddy. I am going to do a costume a little bit later, but that's for my OnlyFans, that's right. My OnlyFans out there. You guys, it's PG, don't get too excited, don't get too excited.

Speaker 3:

I was thinking I needed to dial in or whatever you do on those things. I'm kind of worried, teddy. To be honest with you, I just realized I forgot it was Halloween and I'm thinking somebody's going to be at my front door ringing the doorbell wanting to get candy and I'm in here, so they may get mad. I may get eggs on the house later, who knows.

Speaker 1:

Well, ain't nobody going to be ringing my bell?

Speaker 3:

I ain't having that. I'm no, no, no, no. Yeah, welcome to the show. It was so good to see you. Uh, come back into the wwe. I saw the legends contract deal came through and that was fantastic news it was awesome, can I tell you okay?

Speaker 2:

um, I did talk about I have a twitch, but I already talked about it a little bit um, the call from 203. I go, what the hell? I did not answer it and I left it. I, I I'm an audio messenger because I not not really fast at texting and stuff and I I text it back. I go, hey, I'm so sorry, john cone from wwe, I go, I'm running errands right now. And then he sent an audio back saying hey, we just want to offer you a nostalgic um contract, which was legend's contract. And I called him back. I go, okay, I was lying, I'm not running errands.

Speaker 2:

When I got the 203 area code, you remember I had ptsd going. Am I getting transferred to smackdown? Am I going to raw? Am I getting fired or am I going to get in trouble? I, I did not know why I was getting called from WWE. So I go. I called back and I was like, oh my God, oh my God, are you kidding me? Oh, this is awesome, oh my gosh. And I said does this mean I get a Funko Pop? And he goes let's not get ahead of yourself.

Speaker 3:

I go yeah, Teddy, have you got one yet? A Funko Pop? No, it's in the making. I know that was part of the thing that they had talked about when you came in as the Legends deal as well. I got to tell everybody this podcast I don't know if it was snake bit when we first brought it up because we went through a hurricane, so I couldn't record one time due to the hurricane.

Speaker 2:

After that, Victoria, I believe you have problems with the wiring in your home or somewhere where you're going and you're having problems, then I'm telling you technology is not on my side for this. Like you know, everybody's doing a podcast. I do want to, and it's just, it's you, it's almost you need to hire someone younger that knows how to do all this stuff or someone's an expert at this. You know what I mean. It's a lot of work people. People don't realize it's not just hopping on the, the, the computer, for 30 to 45 or an hour of time. You know it's a lot of work editing and all that stuff, titling hashtags. Good god, thank god we didn't have this back in the day, teddy, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'd have never made it.

Speaker 2:

I wouldn't either.

Speaker 3:

No, if we had the technology we have now, when I was a kid, my parents would have disowned me. When I was 15 years old, probably yeah.

Speaker 2:

Exactly, exactly.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, when I talked to you and we brought up the idea of having you come on the show, one of the things I had told you was that we talk about stories quite a bit on this show, and you are the very first guest that has ever told me. I've got so many I'm afraid I won't be able to get them all in at the time. We don't want but one. Yeah, we'll take as many as you want to give us in this time, though.

Speaker 2:

Can I give you two, you can absolutely give us one.

Speaker 2:

Okay, two, you can absolutely give us one. Okay, keep going. The first one that automatically popped in my head, um, was okay, uh, I got, I wasn't with wwe anymore. I went to tna and odb. Uh and myself became very close. She's very tomboy, very real and raw and just not a princess kind of gal, and her and I are exactly like that. We we just got along, um, and we shared a lot of natty lights back in the day.

Speaker 2:

We were, we were traveling one um I've god knows middle of nowhere, god, I don't even know. It was a long drive and we saw this billboard on the side of the road and I was trying to find that picture, but I think it's from my space. Ah, yeah, yeah. So, um, I was looking for that picture and it said strip club, diesel truck, whatever. And um, I go. We both looked at the billboard and we, I go. God, I've always been curious what a diesel truck driving strip club looks like. She goes, me too, and I go. We looked at each other like we're early, let's go.

Speaker 2:

We stopped nervous, right, a little nervous, oh yeah, and um went in. They were all sit. There was no one in there, what do you be? And I just walk in and, um, they're all sitting down at the bar having drinks, nothing is going on. I don't even know if there was music on and we're like, hey you know, oh, we just were curious about this place and we got a drink.

Speaker 2:

And then, of course, I go, hold on. Oh, we told them about. They're like oh, what are you in town for? We told them about wrestling. Oh, my kids are big fans and I'm known which irritates the hell out of everybody I traveled with I would give tickets out. Hey, if I get a discount on my hotel, I'll get you two tickets. Oh, can I get a discount on my reptile cart? Can I get a discount? $3.99 is the wrestler price, right, right, we always ask for something and so I, um, I went back in and I go hey guys, do you guys want? We didn't get anything free there, I mean. But I go, hey, it was tna, the seats were not very full, that's like we need to.

Speaker 2:

We almost need to pay people to fit in to sit down. This was back in the day, I think it's better now and, um, I handed out all the tickets, I said, hey, give me your names, your real names, not your stage names.

Speaker 3:

Bunny is coming to the will call office.

Speaker 2:

Exactly Mocha-licious. I got a free tickets and ODB, which her name's Jess. She was like are you kidding me? Can you not get free? I go, hey, I'm going to give you free tickets. Hey, we're getting discounts, man and I go. We need those seats. I don't want to freaking kill my back picking your ass up for freaking 100 people out there. You know what I mean. So that was I had a picture. I had a picture in front of the billboard, in front of the strip club of ODB and I going, and then I put the title this is probably why they didn't resign me and I got let go, but I said the title this is probably why they didn't re-sign me and I got let go.

Speaker 3:

But I said budget cuts at tna oh, that's great.

Speaker 2:

That was pretty much the truth yes, yes, I don't know what they pay now, but back in my day it was, it was, you know right, you gotta love wrestling period.

Speaker 2:

You just got to love what you do and um, those were the people very passionate and work for not very much money, true, you know, but yeah, that was a good time. Her and I um it, you know, remember how we used to. We used to drive old school we have the igloo in the back, you know, with the? Um we would get natty lights that were like what is it back? That uh 17 for 24 pack and that was expensive to us. Yeah, yeah, but um, yeah, I just I have so many road stories.

Speaker 3:

I know that well. Let me ask you a question about odb, while we're talking about her okay is she still have the food truck business? I know she got into food truck and she was doing very well, but then it caught fire at one point, so did she get another food truck. She has two more now two.

Speaker 2:

So she opened it up with her husband, Alan, and sometimes one will go to another brewery, One will go to like a convention center whatever. But I just got back two days ago from her house. She did the food truck and I did an indie show and she'd rather do a food truck than do actually in-ring stuff. You know what I mean. So she's doing very well, very successful. They have a nice beautiful home. We did a fire pit outside. We actually FaceTimed Earl Heppner.

Speaker 3:

Oh, wow we love Earl.

Speaker 2:

I know he was supposed to be there and stay at ODB's too, and he had knee surgery and so you know he usually makes me boiled peanuts, so no wonder. Earl's coming yes yes, yes, do you love boiled peanuts, teddy?

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love it, I still buy. Yes, yeah, I love it, I still buy it. I'm not going to make it. It takes eight hours to make and I go they sell it canned. I'm good with that. You know what I mean.

Speaker 3:

We have places here in middle Georgia where you can pull up to a little hut and make them and they fresh out of the boiler and take them home.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's either Cajun or normal. Yes, yes, out of the boiler and take them home. Yeah, it's either cajun or normal. Yes, yes, yeah, I missed that. I missed that so much. But, um, I I really had an amazing time on the road, honestly. Um, very tight knit families. I don't know how it is these days, but you know, we used to all enjoy each other's company after the the show is going. Hey, we're gonna go eat, where are you gonna head? You know, we used to all enjoy each other's company after the the show is going. Hey, where are you gonna go eat? Where are you gonna head? You know, um, but who?

Speaker 1:

just a good time right yeah, um candace tory. Go ahead, teddy yeah, yeah, I was gonna say the business has certainly changed. It's not what it used to be. Uh, once we got done, like Victoria says, we'd find out where are you guys eating at. Everybody would meet up, have a nice meal, drinks, have a good time no arguing, no misunderstanding, just having fun. Man, it's just not like that anymore.

Speaker 2:

Victoria, no, it's not, I'm sorry. We went to ODB and I actually it's not um. And see, I'm sorry, I do. Okay, we went to um odb and I actually it's so coincidence. We both got booked on obw um working with the new kids um before the pandemic and we were like hey, where's, where's everybody going? And then like they were like oh, I gotta go home, um, I, I I'm gonna go to the gym and I. The important part was the bonding after the show. Then you get to know each other, not just freaking your work and going, being stressed at backstage and going just, you know, walking on eggshells, going. Okay, do I have any pre-tapes? Like, you need to know the person that you have the best matches with your good friends and the bonding I think is part of it.

Speaker 3:

You know right I totally agree with that. I, you know, when I was an independent wrestling, usually the best people I worked with in the ring were friends and people I knew and trust and we knew enough about each other where you didn't even really have to talk about the match. You just go in there and do the match, uh and there's. And that comes from being around each other and learning each other in the old days, just like, uh, you and teddy. I mean at those times they were traveling on the road and getting an education. And these kids nowadays I'm not sure they get that education because they're cutting back the amount of house shows and they don't do as much as what you guys did at one time. Y'all lived on the road.

Speaker 1:

I mean that's changed quite a bit over the years well, let me say this this it's not so much as getting an education on the house shows. You know what I mean. Vince McMahon gave you an education any time you stepped into the ring. It was TV, house show or whatever it was. It was a learning experience every time you stepped in there and Vince McMahon made sure you knew that. He made sure you wasn't going out there getting in business for yourself.

Speaker 1:

This is how we do this. This is about drawing money, and if you got that, learned that part of it, then you got along with Vince. It's just that simple.

Speaker 3:

Tori, if I may ask you, you're known for the tarantula and a lot of things. I guess people really attach that creepy crawly thing you were carrying around at one time to you. Where did that come from?

Speaker 2:

well, I was a black widow in wwe. Okay, undertaker, uh goes. Hey, victoria, come on up here. And I thought, of course I got heat. And I was like, oh no, what did I do wrong? Now, damn it, man, everything I'm doing. So he, he goes. Hey, I just want to say that you know who you remind me of is that pool player, black Widow? And I was like, oh, I put spiders on all my gear everything From then on I'm like I'm having spiders.

Speaker 2:

And that's how the spider gimmick happened when I went to TNA was not my, my choice to pull the tarantula and they didn't smart me up like, oh, no. So then the body language, like I used to see it move like the back go, like this, it's because I'm breathing and so it's, you know, flinching. And then also I come back. I go, my arm itches every time I touch the spider and he goes oh, he's shooting fibers out of his body, because when birds attack tarantulas, they shoot in their cornea, their fibers, to blind them. And I'm like I had to research all this myself and then the the guy from it was from gatorland.

Speaker 2:

I didn't own the spider, yeah, um, they had to have in universal studios the. Their rules were some specialists had to be attending with the animal. Okay, okay, and so I go. Well, what happens if I get bit? He goes, are you allergic to bees? And I go, never been stung? And I go what do you do when I get he goes? Well, not nothing really. And that guy was getting paid more than the mid carters, that guy. And so at the end of my like, after we had to kill off the tarantula because he was costing too much, money.

Speaker 3:

I got to tell you when you came out and you had that tarantula on your hand and you're letting it walk everywhere. You look totally cool with the whole thing. You would not have known that you were not good with it.

Speaker 2:

You look at the first couple of times when they do a close up, you see my hand going. I was shaking and I would tell the referees going, it's going to bite me, it's going to bite me. And he goes what do you want me to do? And I go well, I can't drop it. They explode like light bulbs and I was like I can't kill this thing. You know, I just I got yeah, but it wasn't my idea and I felt cool, though I felt very much like Jake the snake with the snake.

Speaker 3:

It was very cool presentation. I will say that the presentation was really good and, as I mentioned, you made it look like there was nothing to it.

Speaker 2:

I assumed it was a pet tarantula that you just kept at the house. They gave me the tarantula like in a box, and they wanted me to carry out like in a shoe box and I was like, well, don't we have like a fancy cage? They're like no, and I went out and bought a cage for it. It was a candle holder from Hobby Lobby and I was like, well, if I'm, if we're going to present this, have it in a case that looks nice and they can pan back and forth from the camera to the spider. I had to buy that too. And, um, oh yeah, I'm telling you it was a big.

Speaker 3:

It was a big difference between the companies before we get out of time here and we are going to run out of time a little bit here- but when they tell another story, hold on.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, yes, give me another story. Okay, travel, and I and candace. I used to travel with carlito. Um, travel, candace, tory, it all. It varied, you know what I mean. And um, okay, I don't want you to think I'm a big fan of strip clubs, but they're the ones that stay. They stay open late.

Speaker 2:

We all went to a strip club Chavo, candice and myself, and Sherry, chavo's wife was taking pole dancing just for Chavo, just for the husband, as a gift. So we stopped at the strip club. They had a clothing area. We bought this outfit. The toes that you know come out of the shoe like the.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we got the whole outfit a tutu, sexy top and, um, we were at the strip club and we, you know, just eating and just having a good time. We weren't there, mostly not looking at the girl, we just goofing off. You know what I mean. We have to entertain ourself on the road. It's tedious and monotonous and you've got to entertain yourself. And we went back. We're like, oh shit, our flight leaves in like four hours. Let's get to the hotel. We're like you know what, let's just all crash in the same hotel. Why pay for two separate rooms so the girls can share. So got a room and I'm like like where did chavo go? Where did chavo go? He's in the bathroom. He comes out, he put the whole entire outfit that he got sherry with the slipper, the big chunky, oh no, with his toes. Oh my god, he looked like in living color. He looked like um I know he's.

Speaker 3:

He looked like Jim Carrey, yeah, yeah, I can't remember what they oh the character names. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

He looked like he was making fun of bodybuilders, that kind of thing, but we had to pop ourself. Yeah, and I did hear your story, teddy. When I BA'd you, I mooned you.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yes, that's where this all started, as a matter of fact, because we got a response back from that video that we had done, where he talked about you mooning him. How did that all come about?

Speaker 2:

boredom anything to pop ourselves. And one time there was one time I saw I go, oh my god, I think that's rvd driving um, hold on, hold, on, hold on. I'm in the back seat getting my pants ready because I saw the long hair, the blondish. Nighttime after the show I put my butt out the window and Chava goes. Lucia, that's not Rob Van Damme. He had a kid in the passenger seat. He was with the son and I go, I duck down the back, I go, go, go, go, go. Oh my god, rbd. Anything just to get a laugh and just to ease the tension. And I was the goofball, I not, I'm not a shy person and, um, I'll make an ass out of myself just to make someone laugh speaking of ass, uh, I did see a video and now explain this.

Speaker 3:

You actually had a video where you were in maybe a hotel room and your pants didn't agree with your butt at the time.

Speaker 2:

Okay, this is boredom backstage. This was probably TNA with Brooke Tessmacher, brooke Adams from WWE.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

You know we were done and we're a little old school when we don't leave after our match. We still stick around. But we went into the locker room. We were just bored and I actually started playing music Make it nasty. So I was like we were dancing and I was wearing these pants I'm half Puerto Rican, waist down.

Speaker 1:

I got the butt.

Speaker 2:

So I went to go squat down Totally and rip my pants. I actually still have those pants, which will be available on Lisa Marie Varen direct.

Speaker 3:

And if you want to see what they look like, I've got the video right here. All right, victoria, we enjoyed having you on the show today and it the time went like that. I mean so fast, and I appreciate you taking the time, especially, uh, here at halloween, when I know there's a lot going on. But, uh, having you on the show was fantastic and I've been looking forward to it. As I said, I apologize for the delays, but mother nature just kept giving us hell, so anything for teddy, long anything for teddy.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I love you, teddy. I love you so much. You're one of my favorite people, honestly. Um man, we go back a long time and I'm just so thankful to have this friendship still to this day. You are family, you are like my brother.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, thank you so very much. I love you too. Uh, last year, we had a great relationship during, uh, your time and my time. It was just great to. You are family, you are like my brother. Yeah, thank you so very much. I love you too, leslie. Yeah, we had a great relationship during your time and my time. It was just great to travel with you. It's great to be around you in the locker room and everything. You never had a bad attitude. You know, if you were asked to do something Even I've seen you sometimes you didn't want to do it, but you did it because you understood what the business is. This is what I do, this is my job, and a lot of divas had to roll with you and kind of learn your way. A lot of them would have made it. There's a certain way you have to be in this game. You've got to learn how to play it and you learn how to play it.

Speaker 2:

You've got to be humble, too. You've got to be humble.

Speaker 3:

A little trivia question, teddy, you may not know this. Do you know when her first appearance with WWE, what she was doing?

Speaker 1:

She was with the Godfather.

Speaker 3:

Yes, she was a hoe in the Godfather group.

Speaker 2:

How did that come about.

Speaker 3:

Yep, save the Hoes campaign. Save the Hoes when they came to you. What were you doing at that time? Were you in developmental at that point?

Speaker 2:

I was trying to get my foot in the door and I went to wrestling school. The WWE at the time called me and said um, we got your tryout video. Um, we'd like to meet you in 30 days. Um, and I was like, do you wrestle? I go, no. I googled. I don't even know what it was on at that time. Upw came up and it was a developmental territory. And then the godfather thing opened up. They wanted two permanent hosts. I knew that was my foot in the door.

Speaker 1:

I knew that's not what I wanted to do.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean? Oh yeah, and my parents didn't know what a hoe was. My mom and dad go. Why are they calling you a hoe and I go?

Speaker 3:

it means party girl, that I get the crowd riled up Lying to your mama and daddy. That's just so wrong with you as far as podcasts or anything. I know you were doing a show. I watched one actually with you and odb I believe it was yes, um, I have a twitch.

Speaker 2:

It's twitchtv slash release, marie. Um, I used we used to have a show with socal val, mickey james, having three people hosted to get our schedules everybody's still working it was impossible and to get the guests in there it was just not working out and I was like I still wanted to do a show and so I just started my own Twitch and I had no idea what Twitch was. I was on YouTube. So this is a learning process. I always tell people if I'm not on there exactly at the time, stay tuned, we're having technical difficulties. You know what I mean. Yeah, but I have a Twitch show. I'm on social media, I'm everywhere and you know I'm. I am a hustler. That should have been my entrance song. Every day I'm hustling.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to say that while we still have a couple of minutes because they have not cut us off yet. I do want to mention that, Teddy and I the last time I saw you was in St Louis I believe it was for the hall of fame, and with you you get a lot more with Victoria than you do just somebody sitting at the table. I saw you running around taking care of a lot of things that need to be done, helping out when you weren't even asked, just to make sure that things went off the way they should, and that is a pro. When you see that, that's when somebody really cares about the event.

Speaker 2:

I always ask I go, do you have a mic on the floor when we're doing conventions, teddy? I go, please give me the mic Because some of the people are like a little older and can't stand and they're sitting and people are like the fans are a little embarrassed to go, like who is that? And look at the pictures so they stay away from the table. So I you, I always take the mic and go table a table, tell us about yourself and introduce yourself and then they can cut their own promo and they're like oh, I didn't know, uh, you know. Uh, fred um is here exactly right, yep, yeah you know, you gotta you gotta help each other out.

Speaker 2:

This is yes. This is what we do for a living. This is how we make a living is conventions and doing appearances, and you want everybody to do well and you want that show to make as much money. Um, you know, not just us make the money, we want them to make the money too. That way, they ask us back the next year yes, you know what I mean absolutely we want to leave and everybody's happy that's it, correct, that's it and it and that's easy.

Speaker 2:

It's easy. Don't be on your phone when you're doing a signing. Don't scroll on your phone Freaking. You're there for the fans, pay attention, stand up, say hi. You don't have to be trapped behind the table. That's my nightmare. I'm wandering around just to.

Speaker 1:

I can't sit still so you know I can't sit still. It's called Get Out and Mingle.

Speaker 2:

Mingle, get to know these fans that paid your way. They're the ones that pay our bills and they appreciate that work. And just, you know you're there for the fans, man, and it's so. It gives us a lift to hear from the fans. You know what I mean Because we live at home. I still steam, clean the carpets, laundry all that stuff, and then we go to this convention and they always like I remember this match. You're like, wow, I did that, didn't I? Yep, holy crap, I had a great career man.

Speaker 3:

And they remind us about that attitude right there, victoria, is the reason why you're back in the WWE under that legends deal right now is because of that kind of attitude. It's professional. It's what a good appearance looks like, that what they're wanting to present to other people somebody that they can put in front of them and then not feel ashamed that they're sitting in front of a camera talking about their company. So congratulations to you again for coming back into WWE. Thank you very much for appearing on the show today the Halloween special with Teddy and I and if there's anything else you need to pass along, do that right now.

Speaker 2:

Nope, nope, I just want to say thank you. I don't need to plug anything in. Just don't forget to subscribe, like and share Teddy Long Show and Mac Davis yes, road stories. Thank you very much. No, that's okay.

Speaker 3:
