Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Wrestling Memories: From 9/11 to Salt-N-Pepa
Memories have a way of returning with surprising clarity, especially on significant dates. In this heartfelt episode of Thursday Night Live, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and host Mac Davis reflect on the 9/11 attacks and wrestling's role during that pivotal moment in American history.
Teddy shares his firsthand experience from WWE's historic SmackDown following the tragedy – the first major public gathering after the attacks. With vivid detail, he recounts the backstage chaos as wrestlers scrambled to find rental cars with all flights grounded, and both hosts acknowledge Vince McMahon's powerful opening speech that embodied American resilience: "We are a proud people, proud of who we are, proud of our nation, and damn proud to be American."
The conversation takes a lighter turn when Teddy reveals wild stories from his days traveling with Kevin Sullivan, including a hilarious yet dangerous attempt to climb Palo Duro Canyon while "under the influence." Despite severely scraping both arms after a failed jump between rocks, Teddy managed to perform that night without anyone knowing he was injured. Another memorable revelation involves Sullivan's son Ben and Teddy's son drilling a hole through a wall to peek at hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa changing clothes – a story confirmed live by former WCW referee Nick Patrick in the comments.
Throughout the episode, Teddy expresses profound gratitude for mentors like Sullivan, sharing how he secretly attended nWo booking meetings despite not being officially allowed: "I kept my mouth shut and kept remembering and learning, and it all paid off." These unauthorized creative sessions helped shape Teddy's understanding of the business and contributed to his legendary career.

I know?
Speaker 2:you're looking for a fun weekend, aren't you? Well, of course I am. I'm going to go up and visit the lovely Denise, and that's all I'm telling you.
Speaker 1:Now I do know that the lovely Denise makes some delicious banana pudding, which I have not had the chance to taste yet. Denise and I know she'll pop in on the show from time to time, so you may have to put some in a Tupperware dish and send it home with Teddy, Of course, Teddy probably will eat it when he even gets home.
Speaker 2:That's right. And since you brought that up, I got banana pudding waiting on me and I also got her daughter makes a lovely red velvet.
Speaker 1:Oh, wow, yeah, both of which I love. I love red velvet cake too.
Speaker 2:This is the homemade version. She's telling me how good it is. I haven't had any of that yet. So Saturday will be my cheat day. Everybody has a cheat day, so that's the day I'll try banana pudding and the red velvet, but after that I'm done.
Speaker 1:Yeah sure, there's a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts just sitting by Sly.
Speaker 2:Keep on talking about. I had a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. I gave them donuts to the crew.
Speaker 1:He had two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and ate them all by himself.
Speaker 2:Nobody would believe that.
Speaker 1:He did over two days.
Speaker 2:Two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. Nobody would never believe that.
Speaker 1:Look how well fit he is, and yet he still can eat two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts.
Speaker 2:I've never ate two dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts in my entire life. Oh, don't be telling stories. I never even dreamed about eating two dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts.
Speaker 1:You know, teddy, I'm sitting here and you know, today we're doing the show and of course it's live and it's September 11th and, man, I can't help but go back to think about how things were back on 9-11. A lot happened. The country changed quite a bit, and wrestling was a big part of that.
Speaker 3:When it came to the attacks on the 10th Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Houston Texas for a very special live edition of Smackdown. Tonight the spirit of America lives here in Houston Texas. This is the first public assembly of its size since the tragedy of Tuesday, for we are a proud people, proud of who we are, proud of our nation and damn proud to be American. Usa, usa, usa.
Speaker 1:You know a strong video of a lot of that, being produced, of course, by WWE and Teddy. I remember after 9-11, I got to be honest too. While I was watching that I was getting chills and a little emotional because that's how big of an event that was. But you were there for that SmackDown, were you not? For that broadcast? Yeah, tell me how it was backstage, when you knew that you were going to go out in front of the public the first public gathering after 9-11, were there a lot of people who were a little bit nervous about showing up for the show, or what was the thought backstage?
Speaker 2:Well, everybody was, you know, pretty much glad to be there, you know, and everybody really wanted to speak. And you know, just have something to say, because, brother, what a tragic event that was. The backstage movement was kind of a little hectic because then they stopped, they canceled all the flights and then now what we got to do? Now we had to get a rental car and we was in Houston that's where we had to get a rental car and drive all the way from Houston all the way to Atlanta to get home, because you couldn't get no flights. So everything was pretty hectic there and that's what guys were really trying to do. Everybody was racing to them rental cars, man trying to get a car so they could get home. But other than that, I really appreciate you thinking about that and what you just did there, that was outstanding. And what a great deliverance from Vince man.
Speaker 1:I was going to say that. You know, I don't know that I could see that working today, with the current atmosphere in WWE, I feel like that was a Vince thing, because that was Vince saying screw you. That's just who he was. And he was coming out going screw you, you're not going to change the way we act and the way we live. And that's why he was out there on TV. Nobody said, hey, this will make great TV. He just knew it needed to be done and he did it. Yes, yes. So I mean, you know you give a guy a lot of credit and then people poke at him all the time, but there were moments when it came to being an American and being proud of the country and things that we should be proud about, he always stood up for that, including. I even think, to this point right now, that with the way the ticket prices are, I don't think Vince would have ever allowed ticket prices to get so outrageous where the average fan can't buy a ticket. You know what I mean, teddy.
Speaker 2:Well, everybody's greedy. You know that's what it's called. It's called greed. You know what I mean. And it doesn't make any sense. You know you're going to get the money. Just don't try to get it all at one time or take it all so somebody else can't eat, or something like that. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:It's really sad All right guys, we're going to come right back. We've got time right now, though, to open the mailbag Letters oh, we get letters.
Speaker 2:We get your letters every day Mailman, mailman, mail today.
Speaker 3:Reach right in and pull one out. Oh letters.
Speaker 1:I love those letters.
Speaker 2:Let's find out what you've got to say.
Speaker 3:Oh boy, Mailman mail to day.
Speaker 1:And before we get into that mail bag, let's look at some of the comments coming into the room right now. Zach is in the room. Hey, zach. Nice t-shirt, mac. I appreciate that. By the way, for those who can't see what that is, that's the Randy Savage Macho man T-shirt One of the old classics there. Appreciate that Pretty classy lady popping in saying hey, mac and Teddy.
Speaker 2:Good afternoon, how are you?
Speaker 1:See she's also saying Teddy, the streets did hear that you allegedly ate three dozen that night. You may be right, pretty classy lady. It may be three dozen. I remember the two, but I fell out after the first box. I just dozed off and he was still just sitting at the table in the middle of the hotel.
Speaker 2:I already know this is not true, because they're saying something about I had him at Survivor Series. I wasn't at no Survivor Series with no donuts. So there you go, right there. That explains that whole lie, right there.
Speaker 1:And also Zach's saying National Carrot Cake pretty classy lady. Mac and Teddy saying hey to everybody.
Speaker 2:National Carrot Cake. What is it? Is it National Carrot Cake Day?
Speaker 1:Do you eat carrot cake? Yeah, I like it. It doesn't even sound good to me. Why do I want to eat a dessert?
Speaker 2:made from a. I've tried it. I swear man. I don't know whether you ever tried it or not, but it's really good.
Speaker 1:I've always been one of those cobbler type of guys. You know I like give me a good apple pie with a good cinnamon crust on top of it, or something like that.
Speaker 2:Well, I think pretty classy lady responded to him. She says is it really National Cameron Cake Day, zach? So she's letting you know that you're just making that up.
Speaker 1:Yep Curly man saying hey, Teddy. And Mac Curly man, good to see you in here, Holla at a player Curly man.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think we missed you last week. Maybe I'm wrong, let's see. Also John Adams, holla holla, teddy and Mac man. It's good to have all you guys in the room right now. Uh, by the way, if you'd like to be a part of the program, just leave us a comment. We'll throw it up on the screen. It doesn't cost you anything. It's absolutely free up until 7 30 of the night, and after that it'll cost you 29.99 per minute. No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2:We won't be here after that you're putting up with me and mac.
Speaker 1:That's what it's gonna cost you, oh yeah you couldn't stand a car ride between teddy and I. Let's see Kenneth Bechner popping in here saying yo guys, kenny. By the way, teddy, I don't know if you've had a chance.
Speaker 2:Can you ask Kenny right now, since he's there, can you make sure he's standing up when he's talking to us?
Speaker 1:Well, yeah, because you can't see his head right now. I was going to mention this too. He is a part of a show that I did. I went and covered uh micro wrestling just recently and Kenneth Beckner is a big part of the interview in there. So if you get a chance, go to uh uh, see my Facebook page and you'll see the link where to go to for TV 35 and that's where you can watch that. But Kenneth is on that, as a matter of fact, and Kenneth is known. Teddy, and I forgot Teddy. Let me ask you something, teddy. I found this out while talking to Kenneth by the those of you who are listening and watching right now. Kenneth Beckner is a midget wrestler. Okay, I just want to make sure that, because otherwise you may get lost what we're talking about here.
Speaker 2:He's a midget. I don't know nothing about the wrestling.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, you know, but did you know that he's only been in the business for five years?
Speaker 2:No, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1:I thought he had been in the business for a long time, teddy. That means that when you and I met him, probably he was just starting.
Speaker 2:Well, you know, when you find a guy like that, that means he wants it. He's settled in and he's become one of the boys, and when you can do that you know what I mean that's really good. That means he wants to be a part of it.
Speaker 1:He's an entertainer by all means. Yes he is Entertainer, what a great, great attitude.
Speaker 2:I mean anything you ask them to do. You know he didn't have no problem doing it. Man, what a hell of a nice guy.
Speaker 1:John Adams saying Vince always spoke his mind. Teddy, you know that feature. Oh, yeah, yes he did Pretty classy. Let me say Mac. What movie is that that Chevy Chase clip from?
Speaker 2:Oh God, you mean to tell me she called in and asked us about this movie. What is that? About 50 years old or something? I don't even think Mac knows what it is, he just saw it.
Speaker 1:No, no, no. I think she may be talking about Caddyshack or one of the movies from during that time, but yeah, you probably don't remember any of that.
Speaker 2:No, I don movies from during that time. But yeah, you, yeah, you probably don't remember any of that.
Speaker 1:No, I don't.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, that's part of your time when you probably couldn't uh it wasn't at a time I couldn't, I just wasn't able to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, you know, I understand that. Uh, let's see the meltdown. Uh, hey, good to see you in here, brother. 9-11 was a hard day to be on the road. We were in san antonio for raw on monday the night. We were there about to fly out of Houston on Tuesday morning back to Atlanta, and everything changed.
Speaker 2:That's right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, I can remember exactly where I was, and all of us that lived during that time you know. You hear people say that. You know. I remember where I was when this happened. That was one of those moments I do remember.
Speaker 1:I was working in radio and I was in my office office and I got the call about the first plane that hit the tower number one, and I turned on the TV in my office to see what was going on so I could know what was happening. And I saw that second plane hit live and I called down to the studio and that entire staff I had at that time. Man, we went into emergency mode, all music stopped. We went straight information and these were guys who had no experience whatsoever on how to do that and, man, they pulled off just one hell of a day of reporting of the things that were happening in our country, because a lot of people were just scared to death. In fact, I still talk about it to this day and I still get choked up when I talk about this event, and that's just how much it hit me. Pretty classy lady. No, I'm sorry, I got the wrong one here. What's this? Hey, mac and Teddy, where was the angle shot where you were driving Ric Flair's limo and Doom attacked him.
Speaker 2:In Atlanta, georgia, it was a street called Peter Street.
Speaker 1:Where is that located now? Atlanta, what part of Atlanta, though?
Speaker 2:Peter Street. It's over by, I think, southwest Atlanta. If you live in Atlanta, you know where Peter Street is maybe.
Speaker 1:Southwest Atlanta.
Speaker 2:I don't have any idea. All I know is right there near the Georgia Dome. It's close to that.
Speaker 1:Let's see Curly man saying hey, teddy and Mac. I don't have any idea. All I know is right there near the Georgia Dome. It's close to that. Let's see Curly man saying hey, teddy and Mac, what do you think of the return of AJ Lee and Teddy, have you got a chance to work with her?
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I spoke about that on Sportskeeda that I was happy to see her back. I had a chance to work with her when she first started and what a great lady, great attitude, great person to work with. So I think it's a good move that they brought her back and I think that's going to be money there, her and CM Punk teaming up together. I think that's money.
Speaker 1:I do too. Now, you know, I think I would have brought her in and done a couple things different when she came back. But at the end of the day, what the hell do? I know they got so many millions of views. It worked. So, no matter what how it was presented, it still worked. But man, there are ways I would have done it just a little bit different. Scott Lance popping in the room, I guess I got questions in the mailbag. I got to get to Scott Lance thoughts about managing Marcus Bagwell early on in his career and didn't change backstage after he became Buff Bagwell no, uh, marcus was great to work with.
Speaker 2:I managed him in two-cold Scorpio at the time and, uh, like I said, I didn't have no problem with Marcus, not at all. Uh, it was okay. Uh, I don't think he changed or anything, nothing about that. He may have changed his attire, his gear or something when he went to Buff Bagwell, but other than that, that would be a change.
Speaker 1:That's all I saw yeah, buff was always uh. Despite the problems that he had in his life, buff was always pretty well liked by guys because he was always a nice guy. Really, when, when he was good, he was good. Uh, he just he just had some demons that caused him problems. I just saw recently too, keep mind they just amputated above his knee on one of his legs I think it was his right leg. I just saw him throwing out the first pitch in a ballgame, teddy Well you can't let nothing like that get you down.
Speaker 2:Man, it's like me. I don't stop, brother, I keep on going.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I love seeing stuff like that. Yeah, 40-ounce C-Dub, hey C-Dub. Computer class in high school was where I was looking up wrestling rumors on a wrestling site. I think a lot of people probably did that back then. All right, let's get some of these questions from the mailbag and, by the way, you can still be a part of the show. Just simply drop us a comment in the comment section or a question and we'll throw it up on the screen. It doesn't cost you anything. Curtis, in Washington State, was there ever a time where you were worried over an overexcited fan? That's a good question.
Speaker 2:No, well, I'll tell you what this is. Way back in the day, man, jesus Christ, I think I just started managing and we were down in Montgomery, alabama, and there was this lady that always she's at ringside. She was at every show. Anytime you went to Montgomery she was there and she was also loaded with a cup of snuff. She had this snuff that you know, once she would dip they called it and once she did whatever and spit it back in the cup and she saved it and she hated the heels and anybody that got close to her she would dash it. I mean, a lot of guys caught it. She would throw it on you. So I was always worried about her when I always went out because I definitely didn't want that dip to get all over me yeah, that's nasty stuff and yeah, that's nasty stuff, man, yeah I used to chew tobacco when I was in high school.
Speaker 1:Uh, and, and that's back when you had a red man. You get in the pouch, put it up in the corner of your cheek and the dentist taught me how to do that. Gary in Chicago asks you mentioned Kevin Sullivan quite a lot. Any stories you can share that you haven't told?
Speaker 2:No, oh, let's see. Oh, I tell you, this is good. I think we were in Amarillo, texas, and it was me, kevin Paul Heyman was there, and Kevin's son, whose name was Ben. Well, at the time I think Ben may have been 8, 10 years old, I guess maybe. But anyway, we're looking for the car one night, so we get ready to go Now. We can't for the car one night, so we get ready to go Now. We can't find the car.
Speaker 2:So all of a sudden, I come back up to the room, and where my room was, it was a balcony there. So, you know, I step out on the balcony there for a little minute and I look up and I see the car, but I don't see nobody driving it. So what happens is Ben is so little until he's driving. I don't know how he's touching the gas or nothing, but he's driving and he's just going in and around the hotel. So, man, we had to run out and get Ben out of the car. Another time we was there in Amarillo, we went up and we went to the Palo Duro Canyon. Well, me, you know, I'm, you know, under the influence. So I say, let's climb Palo Duro Canyon, let's go up the rock. So I start climbing, ben starts climbing.
Speaker 1:Teddy is Spider-Man, oh yeah.
Speaker 2:So Ben starts climbing Okay, me and him. So we go up, and so, on the way back down, ben loses his watch. So now we got to go back up and get it. Kevin didn't want to go. He said Lee, do I get it? I get it, but Ben is crying, he wants his watch. Okay. So I go right back and say I'll get it. You know me, I'm under the influence. I get it. I go right back up the rock, I start climbing. So I do see the watch, I get the watch.
Speaker 2:Now I'm on my way down and something tells me now there's another rock that I need to get on to to get down. So something tells me you can jump to that other rock. You know you can do that. You can just leap right over there. Don't worry, it's great, everything's going to be fine. You're not Spider-Man were. It's great, it's, everything's gonna be fine. You're a spider man, you're a spider monkey.
Speaker 2:All of a sudden I took that leap and that was it, and I never reached the rock. But I hit, as I'm coming down, uh, mac at. Both of my arms are like this and they're scraping the seat, the rocks and stuff. Okay, I mean just taking all the skin off my arms. So when I get down and we finally go back to the hotel, I mean my arms are so ate up, the skin is off them, I can't do nothing but try to absorb some alcohol. I put alcohol on them but that set me on fire. Yeah, I'm already numb, so I don't know. So I don't know the difference. So they wrapped both of my arms and stuff up and I put my suit on and I went to work that night and managed it. Nobody knew it.
Speaker 2:Oh, God oh man and me and Kevin.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, I mean Kevin probably owed you a lot after that. I'm surprised you didn't say you owe me for that.
Speaker 2:Man, kevin, done so much for me. God rest his soul. Man, I learned so much from him. He was another great one that knew this business like the back of his hand, very creative, and I had the nerve to be the guy to sit right next to him and hot stuff, eddie Gilbert, and learn it all when they were booking the NWO. I can say it now, but wasn't nobody supposed to be in that room with Kevin? But I was there through that whole booking every night. I knew everything and I watched how Kevin did things, I watched how Eddie Gilbert done stuff and I have solved a lot. I just learned. I kept my mouth shut and I kept remembering and learning and so it. And then it all paid off, because when I did finally put it all together and see what this is all about, then I was able to, you know, to do it. And then that's why I guess I got my heat, because I learned.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we had Kevin Sullivan as a guest on one of our early episodes of Road Trip After Hours. Look that up in the library on YouTube here, because that was a fantastic interview. Kevin, like you say, he is so smart to this business. He's one of those minds in the business that only come along once in a while. You may think there's hundreds of them, but there isn't. There's only a handful of people who really know how to tell stories and understand why it needs to be told a certain way to make you get excited. Kevin Sullivan was one of those guys for sure. We've got somebody else here Teddy Scott, lance, hey, scott, say any memories of the storyline referee strike in 1999 where the WWF had scab referees?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I remember some of that, not a whole lot of it, though, I really don't.
Speaker 1:Let's see, also, we got one here. Somebody's saying this is Jeff.
Speaker 2:I just went to work there too, so you know, that's why I really don't remember none of it, because I'm so busy trying to make sure I don't mess nothing up here, because you know I'm up here in the WWF the big time, you know. So I definitely don't want to screw nothing up.
Speaker 1:No, Joe Hamilton. Nick is in the room. Hey, nick, good to see you, my friend. By the way, I love your mailbag show Y, your mailbag show. Y'all need to look that up. The mailbag with Nick Patrick Good show, good show. But he's saying tell him about your son and Ben trying to peek at Salt-N-Pepa.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, we was in. I think it was Knoxville, I believe it was. So you know that Ben, he was a terror. I mean, ben was, he was so he would get on your nerves so bad. I'll tell you a story about him. I'll tell you about him and my son. Well, what they did. We had Salt-N-Pepa there. She was a guest, you know. They were going to perform there, and so they went to the locker room or somewhere they went, but anyway, they drilled them a hole through the wall so they could peek through that hole and watch Salt-N-Pepa undress. I'm telling you, it's goddamn true. Nick just confirmed it.
Speaker 1:Oh, wow, oh yeah. How did you find out? Did they own up to it?
Speaker 2:Nobody, never found out, not now.
Speaker 2:They have now. Well, now you know, but it's been 20 years ago, too late. Golly, that's great. Hey, let me holler at Nick too. Man, good talking to you and God. You remember that story. Nick Patrick and I. We rode a lot together for a long, long time. We were just so close and he was another person that I'd love to ride with, because Nick was always a man. He would always tell you like it is. He didn't beat around and give you all that bullshit. Nick Patrick, I love you, man.
Speaker 1:What was the name that he called you? We kept trying to figure out Glico Beak. Okay, nick, if you're still in the room tell us what that name means. Where did it come from? Because Teddy doesn't remember, but he remembers you calling that name. So he remember, but he remembers you calling that name. He's got to remind us, or either he's just not telling me the truth. I don't, you don't. Okay, I'm saying I know a thing or two about liquid courage. Teddy may have invented parkour. Let's see Also who we have here.
Speaker 2:I have no idea what Parkour is.
Speaker 1:That's a form of. It's kind of like what, johnny Nitro, what all the other names he's had, but he used to be able to bounce off walls and turn around and jump from building to building crazy stuff like that.
Speaker 1:Let's see we also have 40 else giving a little heads up on Joe and who else we got here. We got a lot. No, I don't want to add you to a block list, sorry. Hey, look here. If I just blocked you, I'm sorry. I don't blame them for peeking. Push it, push it, push it real. You know this guy, by the way. 40 else. He's a character. I just saw him the other night. He was at the Midget Show too. As a matter of fact.
Speaker 2:That's great, I love it. We've got Push it, push it Real Good. That was their song.
Speaker 1:Scott Lance any fun stories about or with Norman the Lunatic, and why were you managing him so short? Why was your managing of him so?
Speaker 2:short-lived, I don't remember. I guess they didn't want to deal with it anymore. But no, I don't really have no memories with Norman. I remember him being one of the first guys when I first started managing there. He was one of the guys that I managed. He got out of the hospital and I used to lead him around with the key. He was a great guy to work with and, like I said, I won't call no name, but I remember one time we did something in the ring and so I kicked him in the behind, you know, to get out. Oh man, what did I? And I didn't even think nothing about that. So you know, a black man kicking a white man in the behind.
Speaker 1:I can just imagine where the heat came from too.
Speaker 2:Oh brother, believe me. Like I said right after that, I think that's when they took him from me.
Speaker 1:Okay, here we go. Joe's written back in. All right, nick, here we go. I was going to make a comeback. I was going to go as Geek Oblique that morphed into Gleeko Beak in our highness. Okay, geek Oblique that morphed into Gleeko Beak in our highness Okay, it was under the influence for which that name came from. All right, let's see Jack in the Box on X writes will you be coming back to?
Speaker 2:Jacksonville for River City Wrestling Con next year. Well, I don't know. Right now it's a little too early, so I haven't been called yet. But if I am called, I'd love to be back there and we definitely will let you know.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's always a fun place. I enjoy going there, but there's a sushi restaurant we talk about every time we go and we didn't miss it this last time and anytime we go, we are in that sushi restaurant.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, man Wasn't that a nice place.
Speaker 1:God man, that's the first time I ever had a fried Oreo. Never heard of them before. That boy was that good.
Speaker 2:I think you had about 10 of those, didn't you? Why do you keep on turning?
Speaker 1:I can't believe you can eat that much.
Speaker 2:Nobody's going to believe any of that that you're telling them about me. They can look at me, they know that's not true.
Speaker 1:Let's see If you could do anything else in life, teddy. What would it be?
Speaker 2:And that's from Sandy in DC, I don't know. I'm just kind of relaxed now and just enjoying the rest of my life. You know I'd like to maybe do something in wrestling. Maybe you know work behind the scenes a little bit. Share some of my knowledge, help the young talent. You know that needs to be helped. You know I'd like to do something like that. But you know, other than that, that's about it. I'm happy right now. I'm just enjoying my life with the knees, so I'm happy right now. I'm just enjoying my life with the knees, so I'm happy.
Speaker 1:If you could have done anything else other than wrestling in your lifetime. Teddy, was there ever like a dream job where you thought, man, if I'm not going to make it to wrestling, I'm going to do this?
Speaker 2:Well, that's kind of backwards for me, because the first thing I did before I got in wrestling it was, like you, I worked in radio. So radio would have been what I would have went to if I hadn't never made it in wrestling. So the thing was, I was lucky enough to stay in wrestling, you know, and keep on keeping a job till finally, you know, my break came. So you know, I waited it out.
Speaker 1:Joss. So stopping in saying what's going on y'all. Hey, we appreciate seeing you, my friend. We're glad you're in the room and, by the way, we do this every Thursday night 7 o'clock Eastern Time live, unless something happens to come up that gets in the way. Occasionally travel plans kind of throw a little monkey wrench in on a Thursday night, but we try to make up for it one way or another during the week, we another during the week, so we got just a couple more minutes. If you've got a question, drop it in.
Speaker 2:Well, last week we were not there. Where was I last week? We?
Speaker 1:were here last week Okay. Yeah, yeah, I was here. Teddy may not have been. He may have just been appearing on screen.
Speaker 2:Okay, as long as y'all saw me, that's all I care about.
Speaker 1:He was busy eating his Dunkin' Donuts. I saw him eat a whole box of those too.
Speaker 3:Let's see.
Speaker 1:What did you think of the? Oh wow, I just read this entire thing for the first time. This is the way to end the show. What did you think of the dynamic dudes back in WCW featuring Shane Douglas and Johnny Ace?
Speaker 2:Been okay if they hadn't had Laura Knight is in there. Shane Douglas, what a great guy. Great guy, hell of a worker in the ring and everything. So he was just caught in a bad position too.
Speaker 1:I would imagine it probably drove him crazy working with Johnny Ace. I just can't imagine that that would have been an easy blend between the two.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's hard even looking at him.
Speaker 1:All right and see. Finally, 40 Amps Club. I wanted to take Gemma Jules to a sushi restaurant in Atlanta Nobu, I guess, Maybe that's the name of the restaurant. She said no and put me through a table. Oh okay, this must have been during a wrestling angle that he got picked up and put through the table, and that's part of Nick Patrick's group there. He is a character too, by the way. Stop by and see some of the videos that he posts. All right, Teddy, you got to pick somebody tonight. Anybody in mind? You want to choose to win a free Road Trip After Hours t-shirt.
Speaker 2:Why don't you send one to your man? You just saw, didn't you see him somewhere? Some guy just sent something that was real good.
Speaker 1:Well, we got two people that I just saw recently that was Kenneth Beckner in 40-ounce seed. 40-ounce, 40-ounce, all right, so 40-ounce. Send me your mailing info. I know you got my direct contacts. Go ahead and send it to me as to where you want that T-shirt to go and what size you want. We'll put it out in the mail, teddy. That t-shirt to go and what size you want, we'll put it out in the mail, teddy. I've enjoyed it, my friend. It's always fun to do this because we get just cut up for about 30 minutes and, uh, it's not like work to me, which is why I love it. I can just turn on the microphone and the camera and we just talk, it is work.
Speaker 1:It is work because everybody can't do this that's well, yeah, yeah, you're true, right, he's still. He's still teaching me as we go. Pretty classy lady saying Mac, it's good to see your shoulder is better now. Yes, by the way, I could get a little bit more length. You see the difference One will go up all the way and the other one won't, but I have not been able to work out in the gym like I want, and it's driving me nuts.
Speaker 2:You need to put on some deodorant.
Speaker 1:I've got deodorant on. Am I sweating under there? No, we're good. All right, we're out of here. My friend, we still got some more stuff coming in.
Speaker 2:See Joss Soule saying next time, teddy got to get you to talk about Birmingham 205. Well, I was born and raised in Birmingham, 205.
Speaker 1:All right, teddy, we're out of here. We'll be back again next Thursday night, same time, same place for Road Trip. After Hours. I'm your host, mac Davis, and that, of course, is WWE Hall of Famer, teddy Long, all up players.
