When AI Puts An AEW Belt On A WWE Star
A million-dollar gate and matches on cruise control—Undertaker wasn’t having it, and neither are we. We open the locker room door on standards, mentorship, and why effort is still the most valuable currency in pro wrestling. From Taker stepping between the ropes to coach the next generation, to Ricky Steamboat and Robert Gibson handing out gold that too many rookies ignore, we trace how the business actually gets better: listen, adjust, and respect the crowd.
Things get heated when an AI-generated video slaps an AEW belt on Dominik Mysterio in a WWE x AAA package. It’s a quick laugh until you follow the thread: automation in creative, synthetic voices that can replace working talent, and deepfakes that erode trust in promos, feuds, and even live events. We talk about guarding your voice, contracts that outlive your consent, and the line between innovation and identity theft. When the product is built on suspension of disbelief, tech hallucinations aren’t harmless—they’re reputation risks.
We also weigh tradition against expansion. International shows are a blast, but should the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania leave the U.S. entirely? We explore what it means for fans who built the tent, the rising costs of attending live events, and smarter ways to go global without gutting the ritual. Along the way, we shout out SICW Fan Fest and a stacked guest list, swap stories from the road, and give away a Road Trip After Hours cap—because community and merch are the glue AI can’t touch.
Hit play, then tell us where you stand: should tech have a seat at the creative table, and do marquee shows belong at home or abroad? If you’re into candid takes on wrestling culture, mentorship, and the future of the business, subscribe, share this episode with a friend, and drop a review to help us reach 10,000 subscribers.
Uh button boom boom boom. Well, hello again on another Wednesday night. I'm Mac Davis, and that of course is WWE Hall of Famer, Mr. Teddy Long. Hey Teddy.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I'm in uh my uh room here, as you can see, with my warehouse environment and everything.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I see you took uh since last week you've done a lot with the room and uh yeah, yeah. A TV box.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that's uh the TV that I look at, and uh here's my uh friend.
SPEAKER_00:Look here. When I can I'm about to come over there one day. We're gonna have to set your room up a little bit and then make it look a little, you know, tidy there.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I I'd appreciate it. Come here and do whatever you can.
SPEAKER_00:Look here, uh, while everybody's coming into the room, let me ask you, Teddy. I know you're about two hours uh north of where I am, and this weekend sounds like it's gonna be a bad weekend weather-wise.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that's what they're saying. I've been keeping up with it here on the news and stuff. So I think Sunday and uh Saturday and night and Sunday is uh when it really, we're really gonna get it. Yep. Uh so we just have to uh, you know, that's just gone to work. So we just have to sit back and uh hopefully, you know, we all be safe.
SPEAKER_00:And you know, a lot of people who are watching it, you know, we're from the south. So, you know, we we know that a lot of folks in the northern states are used to all this stuff, but in the south, snow almost cripples the south, much less what they're calling for this weekend, which is a lot of ice and ice. Uh we've had an ice storm uh where I when I lived in this house, it's been about, oh, I don't know, 10 years ago, maybe. Uh, and I I hated that because it popped power lines, trees were down, had no power for seven days. Uh, and I do not want to go through that again. So I'm hoping that ice is not as bad as they say, but it it sounds like it's gonna be a rough weekend.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, they uh yeah, they're they're pretty much getting ready. When you see them getting on the trucks and all this equipment, then they know a lot more than we know, and they ain't telling you everything.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, so uh you know, everybody was hoping it was gonna be snow. No, man, the ice is just a pain in the ass. That's all it really is.
SPEAKER_01:Well, all of us no ice, all the same.
SPEAKER_00:I saw uh this afternoon that Bobby Duncom passed away at the age of 81. Uh, do you remember Bobby much?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes, yes. I got it. I didn't know Bobby was 81, though. Yeah, I remember I kind of when I broke in, uh, he was uh working then, and uh I had a chance to work with him on several occasions, man. We uh super nice guy.
SPEAKER_00:Teddy, I I I I was kind of teasing you a little bit before we went live about uh a story I wanted to talk about.
SPEAKER_01:God, what's I want to know what this is too, because I mean, you know, I don't keep up with it much, you know.
SPEAKER_00:So I I I'm interested in to see what well the just uh recently WWE and AAA had an event and they made a video package for Dominic Mysterio. Now, Dominic, as everybody knows, you know, he is involved in AAA, which is also working with WWE now, and he's in WWE, and he's one of the bigger stars of that company. Well, as they put that video together, Teddy, um they posted him wearing a belt, and it's kind of a a drawing uh artwork or some kind of you'll see. I'm gonna show you a picture of it here. Um but I want you to notice uh the belt that he is wearing. Now, can you see that? Can you see the letters of that belt well enough to know what it says? It says AEW look like to me. It damn sure does. A EW. He is how do you do that, Teddy? How do you get to the point where you're producing packages for your company and you've got him wearing the belt of another company? And he was what he never worked in. No, no, it was AI generated. That's what they did. They relied on artificial intelligence to help them produce that video, and that is the result they got. Now, they say, I did see somewhere today they said that it wasn't the entire time of that part of the video where that belt looked like that. It looked like WWE at one time, then it switched into AEW, then went back to WWE. I don't care how long it was. It's still AEW. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:It's still like I mean you were talking about this at one time, about that A and I stuck. That's something you can't trust. That is dangerous, man. Because they can put words in your mouth like you're saying something is not really you. Somebody can go out and commit a crime. You know what I mean? And they can fit like it was you. So that that's really dangerous.
SPEAKER_00:No, yeah. There are a lot of times. Look, I've tried some of the AI things just to see what they do, and it is extremely frightening to me because as a voice talent, it was one of the first signs I noticed. It was when they started having the uh the AI voices doing all these commercials you hear on, you know, on the stuff now where you can make your own song, you can sing and all this.
SPEAKER_01:So, you know, but that's just giving people your information, you know, how to really, you know, get into your business and how to hack you and stuff.
SPEAKER_00:You so yeah, I well, my fear, Teddy, too, is that if I went on one of these sites and I tried AI and look, I I may just be, you know, a nut and I'm I'm older and I don't understand, but yeah, in my business, they wanted me to lay down tracks for this AI because I would I looked into it. They wanted me to lay down certain phrases and the ways I in the way I would say them. And then I could write a script and it would sound just like me, but the AI would be taking my tones and inflections and creating that voice, which means at any time in the future, my voice now belongs to whoever that app belongs to. You know what I'm saying? And and you lose money that way because all of a sudden, well, why would they pay me money if they're gonna go on AI and buy some inferior product? And it is inferior. For those of you, I know when you hear those, you can tell that they're not real.
SPEAKER_01:And then some things you hear from people, they you know they wouldn't say that.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, no, no, it's it's it's a frightening thing, it really is. And I'm curious to see what that's gonna do in professional wrestling, Teddy, because I can see where somebody could actually use AI to create their own wrestling league and league, and you would believe what you were seeing because you wouldn't know any better. Right. Jeez. Look here, uh, one more thing uh before we get into uh some other stuff here. Um, WWE's Unreal. Have you had a chance to catch any of that?
SPEAKER_01:No. I remember some of it. I did see is this like a part two or something? Because I seen something on one of them where they were they showed the where the booking meetings and how they was creating the storylines and how they approached uh Rock when he first got to the arena and hunters telling him here's what we're gonna do, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, yeah, I'd seen the first of it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that was the first season. This is the second season now, and the very first episode. And and guys, those of you who are in the room, by the way, you can be a part of the show. It's free. All you have to do is leave a message on the uh comment section. We'll throw them up on the screen in just a minute. And uh, by the way, those of you uh who do leave uh messages or send emails, whatever we use on the show, you'll go into a drawing for a free road trip after hours. I'm trying to get my fingers right, road trip after hours uh ball cap. And uh all you have to do is just become a part of the show, just participate. And who knows? Maybe we'll pull your name at the end of the night because Teddy pulls his favorite uh comment during the evening. I'm gonna take this off, by the way. And by the way, let me bring this up too. That was hat number one. Okay, that's that's one version of our hats just today, Teddy.
SPEAKER_02:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00:Here's the new one that came in with the other logo on there, the black and white logo. Oh yeah. Road trip after hours. So we now have two versions of these caps uh that you'll find. Uh, we'll bring those both on location when we uh are or somewhere to do signings and stuff so you can get the hats there if you're gonna do that.
SPEAKER_01:I'll probably have hopefully I'll have some with me. Um I'm gonna be um in New Jersey. Uh I mean, I'm sorry, I'm gonna be in Maryland uh in uh March. I've got three dates there for James Lworth. I'll be telling you more about that. So hopefully I'll have some of the hats there. Very good. Also in Atlanta here, I think February 21st, 22nd. Um, hopefully, Matt, you can be there. We're doing something with uh Nick Patrick's uh company. So uh hopefully we'll have some hats uh on that show.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I did this uh these hats. Uh when I have uh family members asking for a hat, Teddy, I know that the hat must be something that they like because they never asked me for anything. And then they saw I think the colors, they just like everything about it. They say, hey, that's cool.
SPEAKER_01:And I and I also, you know, we'll definitely have some in uh St. Louis at the SICW uh Big Fan Fest there coming up in May. So uh we definitely will have them there.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, as a matter of fact, we'll talk about that in just a second and talk about some of those names. I I was talking about Unreal, and I just wanted to mention that on this Unreal show, Teddy, that the uh the very first episode, for those of you who are watching, leave your comments. This is what I was how I got off track, uh, but leave your comments to let me know what you think. But the very first episode, man, I it was as boring as it could possibly be. And for me, that's your very first show of this series, and you're gonna give me a dud like that. And I mean, really, it was flat for me. Now I'll say this I watched episode number two today to see if it still was just as bad as the first one. No, the second one is more along the lines of what I'm used to seeing. Save yourselves trouble. Skip number one. You because you may not watch anything else after you watch number one. But take my word for it, skip one, go straight to number two, and you'll feel like you're actually watching something special. So uh they got it wrong the first time, got it right the second time. We'll see what happens next week. Uh okay, uh, one more thing. Uh Undertaker shared a story about a house show, Teddy, and I thought about you. Uh he talked about the house show in Australia that made him really pissed off. He got hot, and he said the reason was because he felt the talent backstage gave nothing to the crowd. He said, quote, I probably was there. Yeah, he said, quote, we did this show in Australia, the huge house show. We did a million-dollar gate, right? And I'm sitting there watching the monitor and watching match after match, and it was just dog shit. Guys were dogging it, just walking through it, no energy, no nothing. I ended up cutting a promo on the crew in the locker room like we just did a million-dollar gate, and this is what we're giving them. Daddy, does that sound for that?
SPEAKER_01:Well, well, there yes, and then that's you know why I have so much respect for Taker. You know, me and him uh 30-year friends. And uh, like I told people, he would always come to TV, and he would to me now, well, I saw Shawn Michaels do it a couple of times, but Taker would be the only guy that would walk down to that ring and like the young talent or guys that were in there, you know, getting together or working on their matches or something, Taker would see something. And if he thought they needed to know, he would stop and whatever he was doing, and he would get in there and help him and work with him, and he didn't have to do that. So that's what I'm saying to you, man. You know, uh they need people like him. And I'd I'd I'd like to see him in a better role than what he's in now. He needs to be here to tell a relation.
SPEAKER_00:That's actually not a bad idea now that you mentioned that, Teddy. That's it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, because I mean, he he need they need somebody that's gonna be dominant and talk and let and not play around with these guys. Tell them just like it is. You know, if they come back and, you know, like back in the day, sometimes guys would go out and have a match, and the guys knew it was horrible.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:They come right back, some guy running, hey, good, good job out there, good job. And they knew that was a lie. I mean, I watched it, I seen it, but Taker wouldn't do that. If you did wrong, he'd be waiting on you, but he didn't curse you or humiliate you. He'd talk to you like a man and tell you what you did wrong and and what needs to be done. So, you know, they just like I said, he he needs to be in in in a role like that where probably just head of talent relations because he would be the guy, and people could get along with him. You can get along with him. He's not worried about you know his ego and how can I screw you around the day or tomorrow. You know, he ain't that kind of guy.
SPEAKER_00:And the guys and girls would be less uh likely to talk back, they'd more respect uh for Taker.
SPEAKER_01:Uh well that they did it like well, a lot of guys don't know him like we know him, you know. So a lot of guys might be disrespectful. But one thing about Taker, once that happened, he put them right in their place immediately. They'd never do that again.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, no, yeah. We're gonna do that. And look, hearing how your matches were and getting that that feedback is what makes a great wrestler. If you're not wanting to listen to the the views and opinions of the guys who have been there before you who know more than you know, then you deserve to never grow up that ladder. And you deserve to actually disappear into the, you know, to the shadows, because everything that you have learned, or and I'm talking to anybody who's in the wrestling business itself, uh what you're learning is coming from history. It didn't just pop up. This is history. Always like the history, listen to what those guys say. I remember many times, Teddy, you and I in independent wrestling, we would go to shows and you would be honest with what you thought about something in the match. It could be a great match, but something stuck out that was great. And you would go back there. Believe it or not, there are guys who get offended by that. Uh, and and so you learn to kind of just keep your mouth shut and go, Oh, screw them. I ain't never saying another word to them again. If that's how they're that's me.
SPEAKER_01:I'd go to you one time, and I can tell if you appreciated what I had to say to you or not, you know. And if I did, then like I said, you you maybe you wouldn't do it again or you'd think about it. I remember one night me and Ricky Steamboat, we were in Florida there. We were working for uh guy down there, and one guy there, Ricky pulled him off to the side, okay, and started talking to him and told him, you know, no, he came up to Ricky and was asking him, you know, about something about his match. He was having a match out there tonight, blah, blah, blah. So anyway, Steamboat was there giving him some great advice. I mean, Jesus Christ, what a great. I mean, took a lot of time with him, too. And I swear to you, brother, now we're waiting to see if he's gonna do just, you know, like Steamboat told him. So when his match comes up, he went out there, was harbor. He did everything but what Ricky told him. So he didn't care, he didn't pay not attention to nothing Ricky said to him at all.
SPEAKER_00:You know, somebody else that when you talk about Ricky Steamboat doing that, Robert Gibson, I've seen him at independent shows, and he will sit with a guy and go up. Yeah, man, he will help you if you will just listen and implement what he is telling you, and he's giving it to you for free. Like Ricky, Ricky was the same way too.
SPEAKER_01:He could he'd help you mess as much as he could. Ricky was like that too.
SPEAKER_00:Yep, man. That's it. You know, just listen, that's it. Pretty classy lady. Uh, she's in the room, Teddy's saying hello. Hello, and she's also saying she's uh also confused about the weather, she doesn't know what to expect. I think it's gonna be a lot of ice. I think that's something we can be sure of. It's gonna be a mess, whatever happens.
SPEAKER_01:Well, just uh wake up and just try to stay safe.
SPEAKER_00:Yep. Darling uh Darla's in the room, Darla Staggs. Hey, Darla. Uh all right, Darla, how are you today? And while we're uh talking about Darla, let's talk about this. You brought this up a minute ago, SICW Fan Fest 4. It is coming up on May 8th through the 9th. It's gonna be at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Fairview Fight Heights. Yeah, Fairview Heights, Illinois. A special guest myself, Teddy, will be there. But look at this list, Teddy. Look at all these people who are gonna be there that are just named so far: Demolition, Mickey James, Mick Foley, JBL, Bobby Fulton. We're gonna have Harvey Whippelman there, the powers of pain, joint the clown, and look at this. Paul Ellerine will be there, Teddy.
SPEAKER_01:Good, good. God, good to see Paul. Me and him worked uh quite a bit back in the day when he had the Road Warriors.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, man. Look here, if you want tickets for this event, Teddy and I will tell you straight up one of our favorite shows every single year. St. Louis, uh, which is really in the same area where we're talking about. Uh, man, they do this right every year. This is the fourth year. Teddy and I have been blessed to be there every single year. And uh, this is something, like I say, we look forward to. So make plans. Go to SICW.org and get your tickets or find out more about vendors as well, uh, and be a part of uh the big event coming up in May. All right, Teddy, let's go to that mailbag. You ready? I'm ready, player. All right, hit that tune, boy.
SPEAKER_02:Letter. Oh, we get letters. We get your letters every day. We let go out. I love those letters. Let's find out what you got today. Oh boy, mail bed, mail today.
SPEAKER_00:There we go. I was gonna say that uh sooner or later we're gonna do a live show, and I'm gonna have to bring that music with us and open up a part of the show with uh letters uh because Teddy loves that song so much.
SPEAKER_01:No, I do not.
SPEAKER_00:Darla stags, by the way. She says, I wonder if I can make myself a wrestler with AI. That would be scary. Darla, you can. I've seen people do that. Honest to God, I've already seen it. It's it's available. Yeah, yeah, you can definitely do it. Yeah, man. Currently, man in the room. Good to see you, my friend. Uh, saying hello, Mac and Teddy. Hey, Teddy, got a question. Do you remember having a match where you and another referee with the rock against three other participants on SmackDown? I just saw it on YouTube.
SPEAKER_01:It was me, uh Jack Done, I think was one of them. I can't remember who the other rep was. Yeah, I remember that.
SPEAKER_00:You know, uh, you mentioned Jack Done, uh and Teddy. I don't know if you noticed, but on that poster, Jack Done will also be in St. St.
SPEAKER_01:Louis Fourth.
SPEAKER_00:Uh just good.
SPEAKER_01:I I'll let uh yeah, good great to see Jack.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, man. Uh let's see. Also, we have uh let me get to the first question uh from the mailbag, then we'll go back to the screen here. Sam and Arizona, hmm. Do you watch WWE anymore? Why or why not?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I watch it uh because I have to do my my podcast here with Mac, you know, so I do watch it not you know religiously, you know. I don't watch every show. I don't do that. I just watch it enough. So if I'm asked a question or I, you know, I'll know what I'm talking about. But I I just don't uh I I just don't watch it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I I I I keep up with it now. I I was at one time when we were Sports Kedah we had to watch it a little bit more than we do now, uh, because you know that we were getting paid to do so.
SPEAKER_01:But that's the only reason why, you know, me too, you know. So I you know kind of know what I'm talking about. But uh I've the from the time that I do get a chance to watch it and stuff, you know, it just doesn't sometimes I see some things that interest me, uh something that might, you know, that might happen, you know, but then look, next thing you know, it's not happening. So I it's a lot of things confuse me a little bit. So I just just let it go.
SPEAKER_00:He really does. He gets confused quite a bit.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, man. Yeah, I uh jeez.
SPEAKER_00:Let's see. Uh we have Patrick in the room uh saying, uh, great conversations. Patrick, we appreciate it. We always have fun in here on uh Wednesday nights. Thank you, Patrick. And uh he's also saying, Hey Darla, what a fun concept. Let's listen to this story. Okay. Because that means be quiet. Uh let's see. What's Patrick Sullens right there?
SPEAKER_01:Uh, you know Patrick, don't you, Mac?
SPEAKER_00:Uh remind me now. I hate to say that I don't, but I know the name, but it's not ringing a bell.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, he he uh golly, he he he comes around to some of the shows and stuff, you know. He he tries to do a lot of stuff in the community and work with the kids and stuff. So if you see him, you'll know him.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah, man. And I'm sorry, I'm horrible about that. Unless you're gonna be able to do it. Well, yeah, me too, man.
SPEAKER_01:I just I did a I had a chance to kind of talk to him on several occasions, so that's I kind of remember.
SPEAKER_00:What was he in the Georgia area? Uh Georgia area, it's in Georgia, okay. Maybe that's why I know that name, that's why that name's ringing the bell.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah. Like I'm saying, what you see and you'll know him.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, uh, let's see. Okay, let's go to Lucy in Minnesota, who's asking, what was the most fun you ever saw Vince McMahon having?
SPEAKER_02:That's a good question.
SPEAKER_01:Uh golly, I don't know. I think it might have been one night. I think we were in Memphis, Tennessee, and uh Vince had a we uh somewhere that was B.B. King was playing there. And Vince wanted to go see BB King. And uh I think that's where I saw him have the most fun there. He did stop and you know, and check BB out for a little bit, but uh yeah, I think he had yeah, yeah, he had a good time there.
SPEAKER_00:Vince is not somebody who's gonna go to a movie theater and sit and watch a movie, though, is he? No, I don't think so. I don't think you can fit still that long.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, he has to be doing stuff, man.
SPEAKER_00:Classy uh lady asking, what are your thoughts on the first Saudi Arabia Royal Rumble?
SPEAKER_01:I hadn't really even thought about it. I my thing is this, and you know, I may get a little heat for saying this, but I I and I know it's all about the dollar too, but you know, just to take the that that Royal Rum in WrestleMania, you know, to overseas and take an American tradition, you know, something that started here. Uh, and then plus not only that, you know, you you you you got high price on the tickets too. So it's kind of the American people here kind of getting the shaft, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00:So and it's not the easiest of times right now either.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, you know, no, no, people ain't got no money now. Brother, I tell you what, you go to grocery store now and look at some of this stuff that was costing two dollars now, it's five dollars. Yeah, you know, you go on Walmart, man. You you you you you get five items or more, you spend a hundred bucks or maybe more.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yeah, that's why I tell my wife quit going to the Walmart. Every time you walk in there, you walk in the money.
SPEAKER_01:Ain't nothing you can do. Wherever you go, it's high, everything's high. So you're surrounded by high prices. And so it's it's it's it I like I said, I I could be wrong, you know, and I know I still, like I said, it's about the dollar, but I don't think Vince would have done that. I think he would have if he would have been a part of that, he would have done it a different way so that it didn't look like it did any harm to the people here in America. But uh I just don't I like I said, uh, you know, it's it's about the it's money and power, man. That's that's what it's all about. If you ain't got that, you ain't got nothing.
SPEAKER_00:And I don't, I I'm not that down on having pay-per-views in the in another country. I just think when you have your your major pay-per-views, they should be held in America. I don't know why I feel that way, but I think it's because the American fans who for all these years helped build that company, suddenly you're telling them they're not as important as you as we thought we were, you know, that maybe the other countries with more money are more, you know, if I'd have done that, then I'd have had two WrestleManians.
SPEAKER_01:I'd have had a rough the real deal right here in America for the people, you know what I mean? And then maybe uh instead of what follows that SummerSlam? Instead of SummerSlam, I'd have gone straight into Saudi with a with WrestleMania too.
SPEAKER_00:Or just come up with a brand new event that sounds just as big as WrestleMania, but it's held in a different country. It was not difficult to do. There are a lot of options, not just, oh, we're leaving America and we're gonna go over to Saudi for WrestleMania in 27. Yeah, that you wait until night, I mean 2027. You just wait and see what how fans are gonna react when there's no WrestleMania in the States. There's nowhere to go to have a good time for three or four days, because it's more than just a show that we're gonna miss. We're missing the opportunity to get with friends on a yearly basis to hang out and talk and spend money, buy merch. I mean, all this stuff we do year after year, and suddenly in 2027, there's not gonna be one that you can go to. Not yet. Not yet. But I don't think something happens.
SPEAKER_01:We'll just have to see what happens. You know, you something could change any day, so we'll just wait and see.
SPEAKER_00:Let's see. Um I couldn't read this on the small screen. Uh Martin's Daddy, uh, Holoplaya. Love the show. What's up, Mac and Teddy? What's going on with you, Playa? Let's see. Uh also we have uh Christian uh stopping by, and that's Rodriguez. Do you remember how to say his last name, Teddy?
SPEAKER_01:Uh Espino.
SPEAKER_00:Espino, that's right. Uh Espino. And uh he's saying, how's it going, guys?
SPEAKER_01:We're doing good, man. Hope you're doing good too, man. Stay warm.
SPEAKER_00:And uh, let's see, get rid of that. This thing's moving slow. Patrick uh saying power lifter entrained with AJ Styles and NWA. Okay. Uh man. Okay, Patrick. I think I know who you are now. Uh let's see. And also we have uh what's it saying, thank you, Mac? Uh, new pay-per-view name. Uh yeah, what I wonder what would be a good pay-per-view name for uh if you had a second uh WrestleMania. What would be a good one, Teddy? God, I it's all about the money.
SPEAKER_01:I said just it needs to be something about money, greed, mutt greed. Oh, they could know. Oh, I'd name it money in the bank.
SPEAKER_00:There you go. Money in the bank, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yes. Every time you go to Saudi, it's money in the bank.
SPEAKER_00:Herb Simmons in the room saying good evening. And uh Herb, good to see you in here as always.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I had a chance to talk with Herb. Uh, we had a chance to stop a minute over at uh last week over at uh Abdullah the butcher's uh birthday party. So had seen Herb over there. He's still looking great and just you know amazing how he drove all the way up to St. Louis to help Abdullah celebrate and then drove right back. So that's uh dedication there. That's that's a that's another thing that that's something that he didn't have to do. Yeah, so yeah, so thank you, Herb. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00:And look, here's something I love about Herb too. Last year, the Fan Fest, Fan Fest Three, we had tornadoes, and it was not the best weather in the world. Uh, the crowd was not as large due to the weather and just all the problems that had happened that particular weekend. And here's Herb again. He's going straight back in there and he's doing it again. You know, he could have easily folded up the tent and closed it all up, and uh, he didn't. He's moving forward with Nick Riddenauer, making sure that this event comes off uh the way that we want it to come off. And uh so I'm looking forward to that. And uh Herb, it's good to see you in here. By the way, I want to mention that Herb will also be going into the uh Hall of Fame this year, into the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame. Uh, he had a problem with that, Teddy, because he kept saying that uh, you know, there hasn't been a promoter put into the Hall of Fame before.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that's why we should do it, make it up first.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, and and he was worried that maybe it would start a trend. And I said, no, not unless they've been there for 50 years, like you. You've been over there 50 years. There's a reason why you belong in that hall of fame.
SPEAKER_01:Should have been in there a long time ago.
SPEAKER_00:Amen. Amen. Uh, let's see, what else do we have? Jackson on uh Facebook with a name association. Let's see, we can do some of these and still get in some of the uh comments if we have any more comments. Uh, if you got some uh something you want to get into, Teddy, do that real fast. Uh, but anyhow, let's see. Jackson on Facebook, the name association. These are names, uh, some of the older names uh from your early career, Teddy. Uh, first one is Bam Bam Bigelow. What do you want to know? Wants to know your thoughts. Anything about uh Bam Bamel?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, okay. Well I didn't I see none of there. Okay, yeah, uh Bam Bam. I had a chance to work with him, man. He wasn't a bad guy to work with. Nice guy, man. Really good guy.
SPEAKER_00:Uh let's see. The next one was Greg the Hammer Valentine.
SPEAKER_01:Uh, don't really know him that well. I spoke to him and on set on occasions and stuff, but he, you know, he never talked to me or nothing. So I don't, I don't, I don't really know him.
SPEAKER_00:Uh, let's see. The other one here, now this is one I'm sure you probably have worked with Ivan Koloff.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ivan, but he's another real nice guy to work with. It's amazing how what such a heel character was he on on TV. And I had to, you know, I'm learning now, I'm just breaking in. And then he comes back and he's talking to me rep as I was referring one of his matches, and the whole tone changed. You know, he's got this little mild mannered voice, and I'm looking at him.
SPEAKER_00:There were so many of those guys, Teddy, back in the early days, that they would scare you the death if you didn't really know who they were. Uh, because they put they sold it all the time. So it was you believe. That's the name of the game, man.
SPEAKER_01:That's how you made money. You sold. And if some of these young guys and girls can learn that today, they might be better off.
SPEAKER_00:Yep, true. New England Fan Fest saying, Good evening, gentlemen.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, good afternoon to you guys.
SPEAKER_00:Hey, and look here, uh, New England Fan Fest. Uh, anytime that you'd like to have Teddy and I there, uh, we'd love to come.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:Let's see. Uh, another name on here for a name association, Teddy is uh, oh, I want to skip that one into the last one. Uh let's see, the next one is King Kong Bundy.
SPEAKER_01:Uh, me and Bundy, I think I kind of got to know him when I started working for Vince. I didn't and I didn't know him that well, but I met him one time on a signing. Me and him were sitting at the table with each other. So I did have a chance to talk with him and speak with him. So he was uh he was a nice guy.
SPEAKER_00:All right. The next one I know what you're gonna say. Uh we got two more. And the first one is Sting.
SPEAKER_01:Uh great guy. Worked with him and uh had a good time with him. And he was also, you know, all the time. He always gave me respect and stuff. And, you know, like I said, it's not another nice guy I had to work with.
SPEAKER_00:All right, Teddy, here's the name that I skipped that's on this list. Uh and some people may not know exactly this name uh as it uh uh pertains to you, but you will. Back at the time, this gentleman's name was Johnny Ace.
SPEAKER_01:Well, ain't nothing I can say about uh John Larn Knighters is that, you know, I and uh I I mean, I'm I'm people may get mad, but I'm just speaking the truth. This was the most racist, evil person I've ever seen in my entire life. Never did nothing to this man, nothing or nothing. So I don't understand what the hatred was for me. Only thing I could say it was just because of the me being black. That's all I can tell you. Because I never did nothing, you know, and they and he just stayed on me all the time, wouldn't never give me a raise or nothing, you know. And I couldn't ask for no money because he would take that and go to Vincent and say that I was complaining now that I need more money and all this stuff. So it was just working with him was just terrible, man. Just terrible.
SPEAKER_00:Uh and I hate there's always somebody like that.
SPEAKER_01:Wherever you work, there's always uh somebody that with that kind of a here's a guy that that wanted to release me for doing my job. WWE is the only company I ever know that release you for doing your job. Yep. You know, and then once, and then like I said, with him, I found out then had to also have an opportunity to find out about another one that uh I thought, you know, that cared, but now you know, yeah, man, it's it's it's it's a mess.
SPEAKER_00:All right, Teddy. Uh by the way, Paul Eubanks uh stopped by to say hello. Good to see you, Paul. It's been uh been a while. The first time I met Paul was at that uh it was in Dudley, Georgia at that event that that guy held that he just ripped everybody off. He didn't have any intention of paying anybody. You remember this event, Teddy?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was uh Dublin down there.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it actually was in Dudley, Georgia's where it was.
SPEAKER_01:Dudley, whatever it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember, I remember well, Paul. I I seen him somewhere else too. I see him every once in a while, and uh I follow him on Messenger and stuff. So yeah, I know Paul real well.
SPEAKER_00:All right, Teddy, we got to pick a name tonight or a question, whichever one you like the most this evening to get a free road trip after hours uh ball cap. And uh while he's thinking about that, uh I want to invite you to uh uh understand that uh we started switching this show for a reason. Thursday nights, uh, I've started doing a program uh with JCW. For those of you who will go and find that tomorrow night, you're probably not gonna find it. And there's a reason for that. Uh, but it's all good. Just kind of keep that in mind. And uh I'll tell you more as we get down the line. Teddy, who do you think tonight should be our winner?
SPEAKER_01:Well, it shouldn't be I all the time so much about who asked the best question or not. I think we're just whoever had the best comment or just so, and I think we ought to do it. Uh, let's send uh lovely Dollars gags, uh, one of our road trip after hours hats. Let's get that to Dollar.
SPEAKER_00:Darla, you got my information. Send me uh your uh mailing address and I will get that out. I promise. In fact, I'll probably get it out tomorrow because I'm gonna try to beat this weather before it moves in.
SPEAKER_01:And one thing about Darla, she will wear the hat.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yes, she will. She'll wear it whenever I see her next time, whether I see her in St. Louis or wherever it may be. So yeah. All right. I've enjoyed it, Teddy. Thank you so much. Uh, I'll see you again next Wednesday night. Is there anything coming up for you that we haven't talked about?
SPEAKER_01:Uh no, I think we covered everything pretty good, man. I'm just gonna try to sit back, take it easy here, and try to stay safe and watch and see what this weather does.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, man. All right, we'll see you again. Hopefully, next week. Hopefully, we'll have power here uh next Wednesday night, same time, 7 o'clock Eastern Standard Time, and it's road trip after hours.
