TNA Shakeups, Rising Stars, And Old-School Wisdom
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Big names are leaving TNA and the timing feels messy, so we sit down and talk it through the only way we know how: honestly, with context, and with a little chaos along the way. We react to the latest TNA shakeups, what it can signal when creative voices disappear, and why wrestling promotions can stumble when the people calling the shots don’t truly understand the wrestling business.
From there, we open it up to the live chat and let the audience steer. We swap stories from the road, talk about giveaways and the very real sticker shock of shipping merch in 2025, and answer questions about who we’ve worked with and what we remember most. Teddy shares memories of riding with Brian Pillman and Tom Zink, and we get into those little human details that never show up in highlight reels but tell you everything about the era.
We also dig into what still makes a wrestler feel like a star today. LA Knight comes up fast, and we break down why microphone skills, confidence, and simple character work still matter even in an age where everyone can “go” in the ring. The conversation drifts into movies and storytelling, including why Jaws remains a masterclass in clear stakes and suspense and why wrestling works best when it stays simple and good. We close with radio talk, voice work, and how being yourself is often the best gimmick you’ll ever have.
If you enjoy straight-shooting wrestling talk with real stories and a live-room vibe, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave us a review. What do you think is really happening in TNA right now?
Welcome Back And Behind-The-Scenes Chaos
SPEAKER_02There we are. Hello, everybody, and welcome to another Wednesday night. I'm your host, Mac Davis. That of course is Peanut Head. Of course, having a good time tonight, obviously.
SPEAKER_01Ever since you trying to say peanut head, none of that stuff, that ain't gonna get you out of here. These people know why we're late. As soon as we came on, we are laughing. So these people know exactly what's going on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay. So I'm trying these different background stuff, and every time I hit a button, I even block us out or something.
SPEAKER_01Of course you do.
SPEAKER_02Uh you know, I'm trying to learn from this new stuff. I like to try to make sure we had that graphic that goes up in between us here on the screen. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Matt.
SPEAKER_02How are you doing, Teddy?
SPEAKER_01I'm doing good.
SPEAKER_02You must have had a good time at Miss Denise's. Uh, you're not in the uh genie bottle this week, so I take it you're back home.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, no, uh, we had Denise for the weekend, man. But yeah, great time, man. All that land and stuff, man. I've read so good when I go up there, so nice and peaceful. Oh my god, man, it's unreal.
SPEAKER_02I'm I'm having a big weekend this weekend. I'll be in uh Michigan this weekend doing uh several shows, actually, six uh TV tapings for JCW. Uh so it's gonna be a busy, busy weekend. But I'm looking forward to it because I after a while you get tired of just sitting around doing nothing, and I and it drives me crazy. So I enjoy the fact that I got something to keep me busy at least uh you know once a month where I can get out there and you know try to be a part of life uh instead of sitting back at the house.
TNA Departures And What It Means
SPEAKER_02Let me ask you have you seen the news lately when it comes to TNA? I've seen today and yesterday where they're uh there's a shakeup going on or something over there. Tommy Dreamer, uh, I saw is no longer with TNA, he's been with him for like 10 years. Uh Tessa Blanchard's gone from TNA. Oh god, there's there's several people who have uh left TNA, and then I'm not really sure what's happening. Do you have any insight to that?
SPEAKER_01No, I've seen what you've seen. Uh, you know, people being let go. You know, maybe it's uh some new owners, maybe some new people have come in taking it over.
SPEAKER_02And uh well, they just did that just recently. And Carlos Silva, who is uh the guy that kind of runs TNA, uh is the one who's kind of calling the shots, if I'm not mistaken. And he has really no real background in wrestling. He's it's one of those kind of guys, Teddy. So I don't know if that's where the issue's coming from. If you got a business guy trying to run a wrestling company that's never really good, they gotta have some kind of background, don't they? Yeah, you well, you need to.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? How you gonna come up telling somebody what to do and you don't know? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, look, I understand if it's performance-based, why some people may be going, I get it. You know, that's just business, that's how life is, and you know that that's that's the wrestling business. And you know, like you say all the time, you're never promised a job.
SPEAKER_01Well, with Tommy Dreamer, he's the you know, uh the one one of the creative guys, I think that uh they do he was doing there. And Tommy's been around for God forever, ECW and everywhere, so he knows. So, and then he's not a guy that's trying to get on TV and make a name for himself, he just wants to work and try to help out the talent. So uh, you know, I just don't know what to tell you. You know, it'll come, we'll find out. We'll see what's go what's really happening.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm sure it'll all shake out probably in the next week. We'll start hearing a lot, a lot more about
Live Chat Hangout And Giveaway Talk
SPEAKER_02it. Zach Meeter is already in the room with us, and uh, by the way, if you'd like to be a part of the show, it's really simple. All you have to do is uh leave us a comment in the comment section. We throw it up on the screen. There are no super chats here on this show. This is absolutely free. Just participate and be a part of the program. That's all that we ask. If you say hello, maybe even ask a question so that way we have more than just going hello for 30 minutes. So all right. Uh, let's see, Zach is telling us that it is National Root Beer Day.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm not gonna have a root beer, Zach. I got a fresca, okay? Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Fresca. You know, you know, I can hardly ever see fresca anymore. It's one of those drinks you see out there. Like uh, there was one I remember as a kid that uh my mom used to have in a tab, used to be in the refrigerator all the time, and and it's still out there, which blows me away. I didn't realize they still made it. That was the diet drink, that tab. Yeah, yeah, and it was supposed to be so great. My mom is she had it in the refrigerator all the time.
SPEAKER_01This is good. This is uh Presca, this is grapefruit uh flavor, and it's uh all sparkling water, zero calories. I mean, they're really good, man. Well, it's got this got any sugar in it at all?
SPEAKER_02No, no sugar, but it's not natural, yes. That's hey uh we got Ellen in the room as well. She is saying, Hey guys, Buddy says hello.
SPEAKER_01Hey buddy! Well, hello to Ellen and Buddy. I was just reading the back of this can. I wanted to make sure I told you the truth. Yeah, no sugar, no sugar.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, that's good. That's really I'm about to go try them again. I haven't had a fresco guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, you get them real cold, brother.
SPEAKER_02They just like a you-hoo to me. I like you-hoo's, and people will think I'm crazy, it's just chocolate water. But if you get a you, if you've been outside and you're just blistering hot and you want something cold to drink, put a you-hoo in the freezer for a little while, let it get some ice crystals in it and drink one of those. Oh, oh, that's good. That's like a chocolate milkshake to me. Man, that's really good stuff. Um, I I want to mention this too. Uh Madman Mick, uh, who is in the room, is saying, hi, Mac and Teddy. I'm sitting in a drive-thru waiting on my food and then finally getting home. Hope you're having a good night. Uh, Mick, uh, I want to share something with Teddy that he has not seen that uh I added up just before we went on live. Teddy, this is Mick. He's the one who won one of our hats uh just in the last week or two. And I got a picture of Mick right here. That is Mick. Mick man and brother sporting that uh road trip after hours ball cap. We have only one more ball cap that we can give away. Uh, and then we are out of ball caps. I did find some t-shirts, so we have we'll we'll kind of go through the closet and kind of clean out the closet before we do any more ordering again. Uh, but uh look here, I'm telling you, Teddy, the post office now $12 to ship out a hat. $12. What the hell? Man, I could deliver that hat for about that kind of money if they're in the Georgia area, you know.
SPEAKER_01And this this this country is so messed up now, man. Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_02I just I I can't believe some of the stuff. It's just like the cost of stuff is so incredible to me now, and it just seems like it's never gonna stop either.
SPEAKER_01I don't I don't think it is either. No, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh let's see what else we got here. I'm trying to see. I've lost our uh our comments section here. Hang tight, guys. All right, well, maybe it'll show back up again. I know we got comments, I just can't get to them right now for whatever reason. Oh, you just keep messing up. Yeah, well, this is something I don't know what happened here because uh perfectly fine.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure you don't know. It'll come back to you. Uh you got the memory problem right now. I understand. There, all right. Here we go, here we go.
SPEAKER_02Let's see what we're gonna tell you. Just show back up. It's even a new thing called widgets on here. We never had a widget section. Now we do. Well, now you can do the up you go. Let's see. Uh Patrick Gallagher is saying, have you two uh worked in the ring together at any time? And Mac, have you worked with Undertaker? I no, no, I've never worked with Undertaker. Uh, but Teddy and I, yes, we have. We've uh worked together several times in independent wrestling.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we have had a great time.
SPEAKER_02That's that's actually how Teddy and I really uh started getting together and wanting to do this podcast was because we were working together on the indies and different programs and shows, and we realized we get along really well, and and we're two of a kind in a lot of ways, so we could just chat on forever and ever in a day and give each other hell, and we we know it's just all in fun. And so we thought, let's put this on the air, and that's what we've done. And uh, so uh yeah, we've worked together in the ring, but also on this podcast. And uh Teddy's always blessed. Teddy's still to this day. Uh, we were doing a show in St. Louis, and uh I approached a guy and I heard Teddy from behind me real lightly while we're in the ring live, don't touch him, don't touch him. And I could hear him over my shoulder. He constantly, to this day, will give me pointers like that, and then I understand why. You know, don't touch this guy. You know, it's cool stuff like that. Yeah, Teddy and I, we still work together in the ring when we can. Uh, Michael is saying, uh, let's see, bringing up here. Hey, gentlemen, are y'all having a good evening? I'm having a great evening right now.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you are, ladies and gentlemen. Ladies and gentlemen, he is exactly having a great afternoon.
SPEAKER_02Curly man saying, Hey, Teddy and Max, hey, have me some questions in here, guys. Uh, let's see. Uh, we've had a couple. Good evening, gentlemen. Uh, was a great podcast with Vito last time. Yeah, look here. Uh Vito on our podcast, Teddy. Last week we averaged over a thousand more viewers than normal uh with Vito on the show. And uh, and people really enjoyed this. That was probably the most real that they have heard him speak uh about his career and stuff. And uh, I'm glad that y'all found that uh to be such a good interview. I I've read that many times, and uh thank you so much for that. Uh and Vito, thank you very much for being on the show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man, what a night, what a hell of a nice guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we uh and look, I look forward to seeing him too. I'll get to see him uh this weekend as well. So I'll be around him. And uh his birthday is tomorrow night. Uh he turns uh uh a little bit older. So David Crone saying uh Lilani, uh how do you say that, uh Teddy? I never was sure.
SPEAKER_01I can't see what uh I see Dave uh the name there. Lealani Kai. I don't see the writing. You don't see the writing. That is, yeah. I just see the name. I don't see what he's saying.
SPEAKER_02He just uh he was saying that she would be a good guest. I know who you're talking about, and and there's no disrespect to her at all. I just I'm not sure how to say her name. And I every time it's ever come up, I've had the same issue, and I'm always afraid to say it because of that.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think I worked with her in Texas. Uh, when I think she was out there at SWE for a while when I first went out there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you probably did. Uh, he also says, uh, we love you, peanut head. Uh Michael is also saying, uh, saying, Hey, peanut head. Yeah, everybody all of a sudden jumping on you as a peanut head. That's all right. Peanut head got me where I am today. You're damn right. It pays bills. Dave Crone, Herb Simmons found the perfect hotel. Can't wait to uh I think he means reveal it. Uh so uh yeah, I'm I'm curious to see what Herb's got in mind. I've been talking to Herb and uh uh Nick uh Ridenauer just in the uh last week about some other things, uh uh projects uh that they're talking about. So uh hopefully we'll be able to tell you more about that as time goes on. Uh also pretty classy lady in the room. Always good to see you. So did either of y'all meet classy Freddie Blassie? I did not.
SPEAKER_01Teddy, did you? I'm trying to think. I think I did meet him somewhere. I was just trying to think. I mean, my no, I I know I knew I've I've got him confused with Bobby Heena. No, I don't think I got that. I never got the chance to meet Freddie Blassie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's he's one of the guys I didn't get to see. The only time I can think of that you probably would have Teddy would have been like a legends special, maybe in WCW. I can't remember if he ever showed up in WCW or Jim Crockett in one of those shows, but um other than that, I really don't know that you would have. I really don't. Uh let's see. Uh Herb Simmons is also hey Herb saying hello, gentlemen. Good to see you guys. Uh also, Mike, it's a go. I'll be calling you. Good, very good. That sounds great, Herb. Uh, Dave is also saying uh it's a controlled collapse with inflation. He's talking about the uh we were talking about the money a while ago. Man, this is how many messages are coming in here uh as we're going through. Curly man uh saying, hey Teddy, any updates on Abdullah the butcher?
SPEAKER_01No, I haven't heard anything. I was uh looking through some stuff yesterday while you brought that up uh about Abdullah. And uh and I the last picture I saw, I looked at him there. He was in the hospital. But uh I I don't really know who to communicate with. And the lady that takes care of him, I did have her number. I don't have that now, and uh, so I don't know what to tell you, but I'd like to know exactly how
Who’s Over Today And Why
SPEAKER_01he's doing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the last I saw, uh Abby was not doing great. And uh in fact, I remember showing Teddy a picture, and uh Teddy didn't even realize it was Abby. No, and and that and and I hate that uh for Abby, but uh uh prayers for him, the family, and everybody else. Uh, I know he's having some issues uh with bed sores. Uh that's something that they talked about. And uh so hopefully that's not uh something that's gonna be a continuing problem for him. Uh but uh our thoughts and prayers to them and the family. Also, Dave is saying uh Leilani uh is how it's pronounced. And uh, Dave, I'll take your word for it. Uh let's see, uh my friend, he also says, is uh Freddie's nephew. Freddie Blassey's nephew? It must be Freddie Blasie's nephew, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And we also have uh Mike Harold saying, any stories, Teddy, working or traveling with Brian Pillman or Tom Zink?
SPEAKER_01Um well, I wrote with both of them. Uh Tom Zink was a great guy to ride with. Uh, you know, me and him, you know, we we we stayed uh happy all the time. Uh Brian Pillman. Brian Pierman, God rest his soul. He was another good guy to ride with. Um me and him, you know, me and what me and Brian Peelman had in common was Brian liked liked sushi, and I liked sushi. And that's where me and him would always try to go when we'd get to Florida, because that's where we were staying down there when they were taping, you know, doing WCW down in Florida. But that's what me and Brian did. We ate a lot of sushi together. And then we, you know, we talked and always had a lot of fun too. But Tom Zink and I, uh, wow, man, a lot of good memories with Tom, and he he he was the guy.
SPEAKER_02The the first time I met Tom, uh Z-Man, uh, I I remember shaking his hand. He was one of the guys in the back. Now you gotta remember, I was fairly young. Uh so I'm I'm reaching out and I'm shaking his hand, and I realized it feels like like a swollen glove. Uh I don't know how to explain it. His hands were so big, but they they they almost felt like they were fluid-filled. Uh, he was just he was just one of those, he was a massive guy. And I just remember shaking his hand thinking, man, that felt really odd. Uh, that he just had these big, huge hands. And somebody else that was that way too, Teddy. I remember taking a picture with Sting, and I was probably 21. I wish I still had the picture. I know a friend of mine who watches the show occasionally. He's got it. If you got it, send it to me. Uh, but it's a picture of me backstage with Sting and uh shaking his hand. The difference in his body size and my body size, and people wouldn't believe this now when you see Sting because he's gotten older and he's gotten a little bit smaller than he used to be. But he towered over me. His head looked like it was three times the size of my freaking head.
SPEAKER_01Listen, listen, Hornswong would tower over you.
SPEAKER_02Now that's what you're doing. Let's see, uh, Dave is saying that uh yeah, Freddie Blassey's nephew and great nephew I'm friends with, trying to get him inducted. Uh wait a minute, Freddie Blassey's not inducted into the Hall of Fame.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I can't imagine that he wouldn't be. I thought that was like one of uh Vince's boys early on. He had a lot of respect for Freddie Blasey.
SPEAKER_01He was Vince's guy, yeah. I don't know. I don't think you'd be, I just don't remember.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's see. Uh by the way, if you want to be a part of the show again, just leave us a comment in the comment section. There are no super chats, it's absolutely free. Dave Crohn saying, Teddy, how was working with Vampiro in WCW?
SPEAKER_01Um, not bad. I mean, you know, we like you know, we link like we hung out of nothing with each other, we just worked together, you know. He was a nice guy to work with, didn't never have any problems with him. So everything with me and him was cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I never thought I'd get a chance to work with Vampiro, and I did get a chance to do that with JCW. We uh actually did a promo together, man. I was you know, that working with him was a very uh it's nice to see because it's like one take, boom, you're done. Move on. And uh that those are always easy days when you can get those in. Uh Moneyman Mac uh is saying, hello, all coming from the Bay Area in San Francisco, California. How player. If I remember the price is right from back when uh Bob Marker was there. Uh let's see what else we got here. Okay, we're calling off right now. Um, Teddy, let me ask you when it comes to wrestling today, and I know you don't watch any particular program, but is there anybody that you tend to kind of gravitate to at any point uh that you're thinking to yourself, I'm interested in this character. I may not watch the show, but I like this character.
SPEAKER_01Well, I like I always told you, I love LA Knight. I'm telling you, man, the guy's got something. I don't know what you know what's the holdback or whatever, but uh he's he's just a guy that I see could could certainly, you know, be the be that guy.
SPEAKER_02I saw somebody say just recently, I wish I could remember where I saw this, that uh the problem with LA Knight that this person felt uh his problem was was that he had nothing more than catchphrases, and outside of that, that's all he had. I never really felt that way when it came to him, but I mean, even still, that's what The Rock did. It was nothing but catchphrases.
SPEAKER_01This is entertainment, yeah. That's what this is, and it ain't like he's no like he's not a good worker in the ring, he ain't the best guy in the ring, but he's sure not bad.
SPEAKER_02No, and look here, he's much more entertaining on the microphone than 80-90 percent of the damn roster. That's something you have to look at because I know people want to see great wrestling, but you also want to see people who can grab a microphone and grab your attention and sell you a seat at the arenas that they go to. You've got to have those talkers, and he's a great talker.
SPEAKER_01Brother, back in the day, Larry Zabisco was one of the best guys in the world to do that walk and talk. He would walk and talk in that ring for he would he it take him five minutes before he even locked up with the guy. Okay, so but he's killing time right there. So when he did finally lock up, did a few spots and boom, went home. The real Brian Clark. Hey, brother, good to see you.
SPEAKER_02Uh hello, Brian. How are you doing, player? Saying have to agree they are missing the boat on LA night. Yep. Uh
Movies, Jaws, And Simple Storytelling
SPEAKER_02also mid man Vick is saying, uh, non-wrestling question. What are your favorite movies or movie? Daddy, you have uh a favorite kind of movie that you like to watch?
SPEAKER_01No, not really. I God, I I just I'm I've been such a homely person for so many years, man. I'm a homeless. Me and the dog, we are at home. And like I said, doing back in the day, I couldn't go see movies because I'm on the road all the time. But I remember uh what did I I like to? I went to see something. I can't remember what the name of it is now, but it was You're asking me if I can tell you what it is? Uh uh Cotton comes to Harlem. That was a good movie that uh I saw with Red Fox and a bunch of guys in it, but I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_02Teddy, Teddy, it had Red Fox in it. When was the last time you went to the movie theater?
SPEAKER_01Uh I I couldn't tell you.
SPEAKER_02Look, there really isn't I I can't think my wife and I were talking about this. When it comes to movies, I used to enjoy going to a theater sitting down and watching a real blockbuster movie on the screen. I don't feel like we have those movies anymore. So it's just like we'll just wait for it to come on TV because the big screen means nothing to me if you don't make it mean something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It you know, that nothing really draws me to the movie. There's nothing that would make me want to go spend some money to go watch a movie. I just don't see it now.
SPEAKER_02And people will say, Well, what's so Of your favorite movies. Well, Jaws was one of my favorite movies only because it was so simple, but so damn good. And it's very similar to what wrestling should be. Simple and good. Don't make it so confusing that people have to really think hard during the movie. Make it simple. There's a shark in the water that's going to eat people if they fall on the water. That's pretty damn simple to figure out. And in movies today, they don't have that kind of suspense and well writing of the and the characters, you don't bring them to life anymore like they used to. Everything feels like a TV movie when you go to the theater. And it's what it feels like. Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Uh let's see. Uh we have I think uh make sure I got everybody. I think I'm skipping somebody. All right, girly man. Hey Mac, how did you develop your radio voice over time?
Finding Your Real Voice On Air
SPEAKER_02Uh believe it or not, um, when I was in Savannah, when I started in radio, I used to talk like this. And I because I was country, I was born in Savannah, Georgia. And they had to tell me I didn't have to say theater, it was theater. I didn't have to say vehicle because it's a vehicle, you know. So I started learning really, uh, people kind of show me ways to quit talking that southern slang and become more of a uh kind of middle of the ground kind of guy. You couldn't really tell where I might be from. Uh Teddy, I would imagine in your case, and just like mine too, I was just being myself. It was just what you get is what you get. I mean, you know, and people can tell me all they want, but my voice was my voice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, that's with me. And you know, I started in radio too. I did that and worked for James Brown for a while, but it would just be me. And like I said, the thing that I knew that got me over is when I became general manager of SmackDown, I was me. The first thing they told me when I took that position, they said, Vince wants you to kind of be like Don King. So I'm like, I'm saying this to myself, you know, I don't really watch. I knew Don King who he was, but you know, and I but you know, Don King. So I didn't say nothing. So I'm like, okay, whatever, you know, whatever they want, that's what I'll do. But I went out and started being me. And after I went out and started being me, Vince didn't have no problem with it. He liked it. So that's why it was so easy for me to go out and get over and have fun because I wasn't being no character, I was being me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that look, I will say that a lot of times my voice, I will be doing a uh uh voice acting. I uh I do that. Uh, and I do over accentuate certain things only because I think it sounds better on the air, uh, other than me kind of just being lazy and sitting here in the long line of this, you know, because there's so many podcasts out there where people just sound so bored. And uh well, that ain't what we do here. So that's why you say I sound different than uh a lot of other people. I just take pride in what we sound like. Some people say it sounds old, I just say it sounds professional. Pretty classy ladies saying, uh, will y'all be doing a live road trip uh after hours show in Saudi? No, we will not. No, yeah, that ain't happening. Uh
Old Radio Days And How It Changed
SPEAKER_02no. Dave Crohn's asking, What kind of dogs do you guys have? I don't have a dog, but Teddy, you do.
SPEAKER_01I have a pit bull German Shepherd. His name is Rufus. I might get him in here if he'll come. Rufus? Rufus. Rufus. Oh, see, he they know he knows I want him to come, so he'll never show up.
SPEAKER_02It used to be you couldn't get him to get away from Teddy during the shows. Now he now he just hides. Let's see. Michael is saying, uh, Teddy, did you take any special pride when WWE came to Birmingham?
SPEAKER_01No, no, not really. Uh Birmingham was my hometown, but I had been away from there so long, you know. I don't didn't even really have any more. I don't think I got any relatives that uh even live there anymore. Uh so it wasn't, you know, just thinking about my hometown, you know, I'm like, wow, never thought I'd be, you know, right here with WWE in my home in Birmingham, Alabama. So that was that was kind of good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I can imagine that uh you get into your own hometown and uh, you know, especially if you got people who wonder, like, whatever happened with uh Teddy, and then all of a sudden there's a show and go, hot dang, that's Teddy right there. You know, that's that that's gotta be kind of cool, especially uh for people who probably didn't think that you might not amount to much. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, I worked in radio then Birmingham too. I worked at WENN and I worked at another station uh WJLD.
SPEAKER_02You know, Teddy, I don't think people understand the difference in radio yesterday than what it is today. Today is so different from what the radio was we had back then. Yeah, man. I mean, you had a chance to really make stars in radio back then. That a lot of the comedians came from radio uh over the years that you saw become stand-up comedians and uh movie stars and TV stars, all started in radio, and that I don't think really happens much anymore. Everything is so it's either a satellite or something else. You're gonna get one set of voices in a hundred different towns, you know, it's all the same damn voice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. No, it's it ain't the same, man. It's all totally different. Do you remember back in the day, you know, when you got ready to play a record, you had to cue it up, you had to do that.
SPEAKER_02Slide it back a little bit and then give it a push. Yeah, and it's funny, and people wouldn't believe that you would have to do that. But if you didn't, you get a rot in the start.
SPEAKER_01You get the you have to cue that record up and have it ready to go. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But there are times when you look for those long records, too, because if you were, you know, on the turntables back then, people were thinking, What are we talking about radio for? But back then, the turntables when you're on the radio, when that needle hit the end of the record, it hit the end of the record. There was nothing gonna save you. So if you had to take a bathroom break, you wanted to find one of the longest songs you could put it on there and hope that it doesn't skip or jump or get stuck anywhere, you know, during the episode.
SPEAKER_01That's when you put on the big 33 RPM.
SPEAKER_02That's right. That's the one you played in. That's right. Med Man Mix saying the last movie he had seen in the theater was the 50th anniversary reissue of Jaws. Yeah, it was just a good movie. It was one, I mean, I still say to this day, it was one of those movies that uh altered my going out into the ocean. Uh, and I used to love to go in the ocean ever since that movie I was ruined. Uh, let's see. Herb Simmons saying, uh, let's see, you're awesome at your voiceovers, as fans will see soon. Thank you very much, Herb. I I do appreciate that. Um, and uh Teddy, we are out
Final Hat Giveaway, Fan Run-Ins, And Plugs
SPEAKER_02of time. Uh, you okay? We got one more hat to give away. Have you been keeping up?
SPEAKER_01No. I I I'll tell you what, I want to go through I yeah, I I can remember though, and I wanted to maybe give the one the guy that uh wanted to know that I have any uh stories or something you asked me about, but I didn't never travel with them or something.
SPEAKER_02No, he asked me, did I have any road stories? Oh, uh traveling with uh Brian Pillman or Tom Zoo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right, that is, let's see, Mike Harold. So, Mike, if you will, uh just shoot me a message. Uh let me know uh on Facebook, just send it to me there and uh in a in a uh DM and then uh give me your address and I'll send it out to you. It's just that simple. Uh, anything coming up for you that we want to talk about before we say goodnight?
SPEAKER_01Uh no, I'm just gonna be taking it easy and uh just enjoying uh my days, Jim. Back at home with Rufus.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I look here. I hope you enjoy that to tell Rufus I'm sorry he wouldn't come and give us his face on uh the TV. That's just wrong.
SPEAKER_01And anytime I'm not with Rufus, I'm with Denise.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'm not gonna say there's so many things I can say after you said that, and I'm not gonna say that. By the way, Scott Lance, I'm gonna get him in here uh while he's uh popping there. Hey, Mac and Teddy, hope all was well. Did you ever have a fan hit the ring that you had to handle?
SPEAKER_01Well, I was there when one hit the ring. I didn't have to handle him. Once he got in, the guys took care of him, and that was uh godly. We were overseas, I forget who it was, but it was a cage. The guy climbed the cage and got all the way into the ring, brother. I'm telling you, and then when once he did that, then the guys took care of him.
SPEAKER_02Was that WCW or WCW? Yep, I'm trying to remember what that was.
SPEAKER_01I tend to remember that too, and I wish I could remember what yeah, I can't remember who the guys were, but but uh I was there. I watched this guy climb that cage, man.
SPEAKER_02All right, that's it, guys. Uh, we're out of time, and uh we'll be back again next week. Uh same time, same place, Wednesday nights. And uh if you'd like to uh join me on Thursday nights, you can do so as we do a JCW lunacy post show that's on the Vince Russo brand on YouTube. Uh it's a uh show we just kind of wrap up what happened uh during the uh program, and then uh we have a special guest. And this week's special guest will be Big Al Alice Crowley, and she's incredible to watch. She's a great young talent. In fact, I'm blown away uh just knowing how young she is and and how well she does in this business. But uh we are out of time here. But oh wait, Scott just told us Teddy, it was uh Halloween Havoc, Hogan and Piper. Yes. So say they say Scott's good for that kind of stuff. I don't have a mind like that. I can't remember that stuff. I just remember it happened, and that's about it for me, Teddy.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, that's all right. Just uh keep just keep remembering Scott.
SPEAKER_02That's right, Scott.
SPEAKER_01We'll just call on you when we need you. All right, we're out of here.
SPEAKER_02I'm Mac Davis, that's Teddy Long, and this has been Road Trip After Hours.
