A live chat can go anywhere when the room is full of wrestling fans, and that’s exactly what makes Wrestling’s Road Trip After Hours feel electric. We’re hanging out with WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, taking your questions in real time, and swapping the kind of backstage stories you only hear from people who were actually there.

We start with the simple stuff that matters, the fans. Mac tells a story about a supporter showing up after a show and buying dinner for the whole table, and we talk about how far genuine wrestling community can go. Then we jump into current buzz, including AEW in Detroit and chatter around Violent J, plus what partnerships and smart character work could mean for promotions like JCW. If you care about what gets over, why gimmicks click, and how veterans spot talent, this conversation keeps dropping lessons between the laughs.

The tone turns deeper when Teddy looks back on Owen Hart and the day of the tragedy, and later when he shares what he remembers from Darren Drozdov’s accident from the referee’s perspective. We also hit Dark Side of the Ring talk, Big Boss Man memories, the reality of WWE vs WCW ring size, and even SummerSlam interest like Nick Aldis vs Gunther. And yes, Teddy’s Iron Sheik story at Border Patrol is as wild as you’ve heard, maybe wilder.

Welcome And How To Join

SPEAKER_03

Bing bang boom. There we are. Take a second for us to get in there. But hello, everybody, and welcome to an all-new Wednesday night show of Wrestling's Road Trip After Hours. I'm your host, Mack Davis, and of course, with me every single week is none other than my buddy, Mr. WWE Hall of Famer himself, Teddy Long. Hey, Teddy.

SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you so much, Mac. It's always a pleasure to be with you each and every week, ready on Road Trip After Hours. And we got a great show tonight. We're going to be talking to a lot of people. And we're going to be talking about some stuff that I don't even know what I'm talking about, but we'll be talking about it.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think you know what the hell it is because I don't right now. By the way, as he mentioned, if you'd like to be a part of the show, it's really simple. Just leave us a comment in the comment section. There's no super chats involved here. Everything is free. All you got to do is participate. That's it. And we make you a part of the show. Uh and we man, I Teddy, I gotta tell you, we had uh a

A Fan Buys Dinner For Everyone

SPEAKER_03

show recently that I was doing for JCW, and I one of the fans uh that was there uh shocked me. Now, this is a guy who has uh kept up with me since uh CMB debut in JCW as now follows this show as well. And uh and his name is Joker. Uh and Joker is a just a great guy. He asked on our last night, where are you guys going to eat? You know, you wanted to kind of come hang out with us wherever we were going to eat. And I was like, Well, we don't know for sure because it's late at night, but we plan on trying to eat here. Next thing I know, he shows up and he's there with us, and the place is open. He buys the entire table's dinner. Brother, I I can't tell you how many that was a nice gesture, very nice gesture. And I know you're watching this, and I just want to let you know we appreciate that very much. And he's great company, too. Uh, the the guy is fantastic. So, Joker, thank you very much for that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Joker, I'm not gonna thank him, didn't buy me nothing.

SPEAKER_03

Well, if you were there, he would have, I'm sure that. Dave Crohn in the room, and uh he's saying, What's up, gentlemen? What it is, brother Dave Crone. Uh, med man Mick. Good to see you, Mick. I love Wednesday nights hanging with Mac and Teddy, then watching AEW Dynamite. Great night, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you put us first.

SPEAKER_03

And look, I want to mention too that just before I came in to uh do the show with Teddy, I saw something that Violent J, I think uh AEW is in Detroit, and I think there was something that I read. Now, I don't know if this was legit or not. It's just right before I came in here that mentioned that uh Violent J had been invited to the AEW show. Now, if that's true, that's interesting because I know nothing about that and be curious to see what happens there. Uh, but uh again, I'm not sure that's that's legit or not. Some of our fans that are watching right now may have more news about that or know more about it than I do. Uh, but that would be really curious to see what may be happening. Curly Man uh popping out of the room saying, Hello, Mac and Teddy, how's your week going? Teddy, how is your week going so far?

SPEAKER_00

Hey man, you see I'm going. I'm alive and breathing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, man. Uh Sham uh Tedma saying, Good day, gentlemen. Hope you're all doing well. My question is from Mr. Teddy Long. Teddy, what is it that made Vince choose you to be the GM? Many thanks from your biggest fan in Cape Town, South Africa.

SPEAKER_00

Well, uh, the only thing I can answer that with is God, okay? I don't think Vince even knows why he made me the general manager, okay? But uh, you know, that's just how things happen. You know what I mean? You just never know, you know, just me just being in the right place at the right time and doing a good job. And he always let me knew that. And so he made a great decision, and I made a great decision to work for him.

SPEAKER_03

I I think the the key too is that there's certain people, and Vince is just one of those types that he can spot talent. You know, it doesn't take much, it's just it's either a gesture, something you say, something the way you said it. Doesn't matter when he sees whatever it is he's looking for and he knows you've got that in you.

SPEAKER_00

You're I got like I told you before, the man said it right to my face. He said, I can't believe I've had you right here under my nose all this time. That man said that to me. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

I see Ellen, and by the way, uh Teddy, I don't know if you've seen this, but Buddy uh was involved in a wrestling match over the weekend where he got to uh take down one of the wrestlers at the show. Uh, because I want to say, oh, I can't remember when Ellen will, but uh do we have that?

SPEAKER_00

You got that on film?

SPEAKER_03

I I do not have it when I can share it. No, and it but it is fantastic. Ellen, if you can uh kind of send us a link or something, I'll send everybody over there. Uh, but it's great to see Buddy having such a great time. I mean, that was it was a great part of the match. And and I've seen that done in a couple of places, and every time I see it, I love it because it says you care about the fans.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

And so company that was, by the way. Fantastic job for allowing that to happen that way. Uh, let's see. Uh, she's saying though, hope you're well. Buddy and I love the new intro. That was amazing. I'm glad you like it. Uh yeah, Teddy, I didn't ask you that. How what do you think about that new song? Good.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna tell you, it's uh new music every week for us. So, yeah, that's eventually that that was really good. All of it's been good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm trying to think of something uh very unique for the uh the next couple weeks or so. You'll probably hear something different too, just something off the wall just to see how it plays out. Uh, but again, if you want to be a part of the show tonight, it's really simple. Uh, we'll be here for about another 20 minutes,

Violent J At AEW Detroit

SPEAKER_03

and uh, you just leave us a comment, we throw it up on the screen, and everything's good to go. All right, so let's see. We have also in here, uh I hope I'm saying this right, uh, Pyrus Wrestling. Two questions. One for Mac. When Tony Storm returns, do you think Tony is his timeless character, is a go mine for JCW and for Violin J. And for Teddy, will you be interesting, uh interested appearing in JCW? Uh, real quick, my answer, Tony Storm, uh, a character in JCW. I hell yeah. Uh, that'd be great. But uh, I I I don't know uh that that's gonna happen anytime soon, but she is fantastic talent. I love Tony Storm. I think she's one of the uh one of the best talents I've seen in AEW over the years. She's got so much character in her, and I'm I'm a character-driven kind of guy when it comes to wrestling. I like characters. I don't want to see a straight wrestler who just wrestles. I want a character. And Tony Storm had that character down to a T. Uh, and and every bit of that was really good. But as far as Teddy uh appearing in JCW, wouldn't you be interested in that if that was ever offered, Teddy?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. I'd have no problem with that. I love JCW. And what's the guy's name then that was called? Violet J. Viol. Uh yeah, I mean him at a uh last time I talked to him, we was in Atlanta at the centerphase of MLW, I believe it was. And uh we had a sit down and we had a great talk, great conversation. So I really like him. I have a lot of respect for him. And if he asked me to come and do something, you know, I'd be he'd be happy to go do it.

SPEAKER_03

And you know, Jay is another one of those guys we were talking about, Vince McMahon a while ago, who can spot talent. Jay is the same way. Uh he I he's gotten talent where you would think, what the hell does he see in this person? And after a couple of shows, you're like, holy shit, you know, he he saw I didn't see that, you know, that it's just talent like that. There's only a handful of guys who can do that. He's one of those few. Med Man Mick uh is saying, uh, nice AEW is live in Detroit tonight. Uh, and I hope that's true when he's talking about uh the possibility of violent J appearing. Uh again, I don't know if that's legit or not. It was just the last second before we got in here. Dave Crone saying, when you guys come to St. Louis, try Rumas Delhi, best Gerber ever. I hope that's a burger. What's a Gerber? Am I missing something? It's a burger. Okay, it is a burger. Okay, but you know, you some of these towns have these strange things. I think uh Darla Staggs.

SPEAKER_00

Uh oh, yeah, yeah. I know her. She's one of our big fan. She's been around. Yeah, yeah. Darla's a great person.

SPEAKER_03

She brought this thing called the French Tunnel or something like it. It it sounded like something sexual when she talked about it, but she said it was one of the best pastries you'll ever have. And it's only in one little area where they sell this, wherever we were. And uh and and it, oh man, I gave you some. We were there. It must have been in St. Louis because I gave you some. It was that real flaky. I remember that. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that was good. Whatever it was, it was delicious. But it's only it's only really made and sold in that area where we were in St. Louis. Michael Steele uh saying, see you Saturday, player.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I was gonna say, Michael, before you said that. I'm looking forward to seeing you too, because this Saturday, uh, August 1st, uh, gonna be there in Monroe, North Carolina for a big uh wrestling event there. Uh it's uh NWA kind of related. Uh, we're gonna go back in the day a little bit, you know, and see some of the superstars of WCW and NWA, you know, some of the guys that really performed in the Carolinas and that territory when it was real hot. So I'm just gonna be. Yeah, man. I'm just, yeah, Michael, I'll see you there, and I'm just happy to be a part of that. And I wanted to also say, give a shout out to uh the promoter there, Greg Price. Uh a lot of people don't know, you know, you come to these things and they're so good and you have such a great time, but you have to think about who put this together. So Greg Price is one of the guys that put this together, you know what I mean? He's doing a great job with it. And uh just, you know, I think it's gonna be one of the greatest turnouts you've ever seen. So it's in Monroe, North Carolina at the AG Center. I know the Rock and Roll Express, they'll be a part of that, and I'm happy to see Rick and Robert because I worked with them for so many, many years. So

Why Vince Picked Teddy As GM

SPEAKER_00

that's it's gonna be good there this coming Saturday.

SPEAKER_03

And you said the promoter's name is again is what?

SPEAKER_00

Greg Price.

SPEAKER_03

Greg Price. I don't know why that name is sticking in my head.

SPEAKER_00

When you said I kept thinking, he's been around, he's been around, he's been around forever. He's from the Carolinas. Greg took off for a while, you know what I mean? Just kind of laid low a little bit, but he's come back now, you know, getting back involved. So uh good for Greg.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and and the type of event that he's having too is is kind of the days that I love to watch wrestling. That's the that was my sweet spot. And uh, so when you anytime you can see some of those true greats of that time, take advantage of it. Uh, because uh, you know, that even the days where where you can move around easily and and not spend a ton of money, that's even getting harder to do. So see these guys while you still can.

SPEAKER_00

And and you got no excuse not to come because it's free.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Well, if it's free, yeah, yeah, man. I I hear you. Uh Aquarius C saying, yeah, Vince mentioned it on Coach and Bro. Okay, so that does mean that Joe uh is uh has been invited to AEW, and whether he'll be on TV or not, uh we'll have to kind of watch and see. Uh, but uh that'd be interesting. Uh he's also saying, also, hey guys, hope you are well. Hey, we hope you are too, Aquarius. Thank you. Dave is uh saying, Teddy, did you know Owen Hart?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I did know Owen. Uh I was right there the day that uh his uh tragedy happened, God raised his soul. Uh Owen, uh, what a great guy too. Uh he always loved the real people. He did, you know, he was just there. And so that day that uh his incident happened, me and him and Godfather were together, you know, for a long time. And we were just in the locker room, just playing around, having a good time and stuff. And uh that night, you know, just golly, that's like the whole world changed.

SPEAKER_03

Do you remember any specific uh ribs that uh you saw him play on somebody? Because, you know, he was always known as the guy that would rib everybody.

SPEAKER_00

Uh no, I don't, right. Man, golly, oh no, oh, he had so many ribs, I believe he lived them. Yeah. Did he ever try one with you? Did he ever try to rib you at all? I I think he did one time. He was trying to get me to get in a limo with him, and it wasn't out it wasn't our limo or something like that. It was somebody else. I think he did.

SPEAKER_03

Imagine that. Joe Hamilton, hey Nick, good to see you in here.

SPEAKER_00

The legendary Glicko Beak, ladies and gentlemen. Glico Beak.

SPEAKER_03

I saw by the way, I saw him in the uh Dark Side. Uh, is that what it's called? The Dark Side of the Ring? And the yellow.

SPEAKER_00

But

Fan Moments And New Theme Music

SPEAKER_00

yeah, he was on there with the big boss man last night on his uh deal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and get back curly man is saying, Hey Mac and Teddy, did you guys catch this week's Dark Side of the Ring episode about the big boss man, raid trailer? And Teddy, did you know boss man and the Jim Crockett promotions?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, I used to ride with boss man. What a hell of a nice guy. Unbelievable, just super nice. He was like two different people. You see him on TV this month, and then when you talk to him, he's like, it's it's unbelievable.

SPEAKER_03

Which is what his porter was saying, too, that he was actually a sweetheart, you know, that he seemed like a bad guy, but he was really a nice guy.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Yeah, Ray was a sweetheart, man. Like I said, I used to ride with him, so you know, it was great, you know. I and I watched him too, and I wanted to because I remembered him real well. He what a nice guy.

SPEAKER_03

Guess who has shown up in the room? Who? Look at this name.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty classy lady.

SPEAKER_03

Look at that. Teddy, do you have any stories about working with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I've worked with Shelton for a while. He was a great guy to work with. Uh, didn't do too much work with Bobby Lashley. I think he uh, I don't know, I was I was a general manager or something. I mean him had some interactions in the ring for his promos and stuff like that. And uh I worked with him. Now yeah, I remember now, Bobby. We did I did promos with him when I was a GM. And Shelton, you know, uh just had a chance to work with him. He's another super nice guy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, and a badass, too. So yeah. Straight up. I mean, if when you want a real wrestler, uh is Shelton's one of those guys that uh he he's showing up the real deal.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he hooked Bob Henry one day. Oh, did he really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh, I'd be I'd be afraid to mess with Mark that way. Uh let's see. Uh Pyrus uh wrestling saying, and another question from Mac. How big will be how big will it be for JCW if they bring the Wyatt six? Bo, Gacy, Loomis, Eric, and Cross. Vince Russo dreamt of doing something with Bray Wyatt, and I can do it with Bo. Uh, or he can do it with Bo, I guess. I I'm sure that uh any of those talents would be welcomed in JCW. Um, whether that gimmick would be something smart to keep using uh after it's been kind of beat to death in WWE. I'd come back with something different. Well, how would you handle that, Teddy? If you were part of that Wyatt Six at one time, would you come back trying to

Tony Storm In JCW And Teddy’s Open Invite

SPEAKER_03

recreate that again?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I wouldn't try to recreate that, but I'd bring those people in. I mean, there you're talking about that. That's a that's a good crew right there. So maybe you know you do something, you know, where you don't take away from it, but uh give it a little bit something that's fresh, something that people haven't seen. But but for them right there, I think they would fit right in.

SPEAKER_03

All right, let's see. We have uh kind of these things are slow coming up. Uh Connor. Hey Connor saying, What up, Mac and Teddy? Always a great time to see you guys on here. Thank you, sir. Bob Smith uh passing by the room. Hey, Bob, great to see you. I haven't seen you in a while. Great uh saying great as always. Ellen is telling me that uh she did send me that video to my Facebook Messenger and the drop uh box link, but I am not that great on doing everything I have to do on the screen as it is. So if I try to find that now, uh I'll probably disconnect us. But I I will bring that up. Uh and in fact, I'll try to run that on next week's show. Uh if I remember. And if I didn't send me a message, remind me to do that, and I will. Uh let's see. Dave is saying no, it's a gerber. Look it up as a ham. Okay, a gerber is a ham and cheese sandwich. So it is, it's not a burger, it's a gerber. Burger, ham and cheese. Yeah, you know, the gerber, the only thing I remember about gerber is the gerber baby. That's that's every time I hear the word gerber, that's what I'm thinking of. I used to eat when I was a kid, Teddy. Used to get uh those uh Gerber baby uh I guess it was like different servings you could give a child just scoop out a little bit out of this little small glass jar and feed it to them. They had this plum pudding stuff uh for babies. Brother, if there was a baby near me and they didn't eat that plum pudding, I'd snatch it right up and I'd eat it. And I still would to this day. It's one of those things that's so good.

SPEAKER_00

That that is something that you would do.

SPEAKER_03

Pyrus, uh, if AEW partners with JCW, if big veto appears in AEW TV, he will be hated and equal with Don Callis and MJF. Imagine a partnership with veto, Don Callis, or Vito and MJF, nightmare fuel for the juggalos. Um, yeah, and not only that, but it'd be great if uh you know if if AEW partnered up, partnered up with uh JCW because uh we might be able to help them get some views. Yeah, not just being mean.

SPEAKER_00

Where are you owing tonight?

SPEAKER_03

Are you what are you taking? Dave's saying you guys never had a Gerber. Oh my gosh, so good. All right, so that sounds like something we're gonna have to try next time uh I get a chance up that way.

SPEAKER_00

Where do they sell them at? Where do you say they sell them at?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, Dave. Where do they sell those? Can we get them down here? And is it something that's uh we asked for in the store? Because maybe down here it's just called a ham and cheese. Eric Draven saying, Hey, Mac and Teddy.

SPEAKER_00

Hey Eric Drake.

SPEAKER_03

All right, let's see what we got here. Uh Mad Man Vick, question for Mac and Teddy. Name someone you would like to meet or wish you could have met, living or passed away. Teddy.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I don't really know. I I probably haven't met anybody I wanted to meet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I really, you know, I can't really think of anybody. I I'm one of those lucky people I and I consider myself lucky, and and I don't, I'm not wishing myself death anytime soon. But if I were to die today, I've lived a great life and I've met tons of people and done things I never thought I would have done in my life. Uh so I I'm, you know, I don't have any one particular person I can think of. Oh, I gotta meet that. I really don't.

SPEAKER_00

Me neither. I I got I like like you, I've I've had a great life too, and I've been able to meet some of the best, you know, not only in the wrestling world, but in the entertainment world, and with Snoop Dogg had a chance to hang out with him for a while. Uh Kanye Res, I think I met him. Uh a lot of lot of other great stars that also that came, you know, were part of WrestleMania. So uh Yeah, I I I I guess uh right now I'm like you, Meg. I don't know anybody that I'd want to meet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, I don't even know of a movie star that uh I'd be like, oh, I gotta see this guy. I I I really don't have that feeling about anybody. And I don't think there is. You don't have those days like, you know, Michael Jackson and uh, you know, in the day, everybody loved Michael Jackson.

SPEAKER_00

I I had a chance, I

St Louis Food Talk And Road Stories

SPEAKER_00

had a chance to meet him. Me and Johnny B. Bad was together when I managed Johnny B. Bad, and he was some somewhere, and they took me and Johnny over there to see him. We had a chance to meet him.

SPEAKER_03

Damn, that that's sweet. Yeah, that yeah, not many people can claim that, that's for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we met Michael Jackson.

SPEAKER_03

Eric Draven, Mac, for uh you, how was it being around Caleb Conley and Teddy? What's your memories of Darren Drosdov? Teddy, how about you go first?

SPEAKER_00

Darren Drosdov was another great, you know, super nice guy, man. Had a good day working with him and Prince Albert, you know, they were a tag team together. And uh, you know, going back, you know, God rest his soul, you know, I'm going back to the day that that accident happened, you know, I was a referee for that match. And uh I remember when when D Lo, you know, he slipped out of D Lo's hands and uh it was like he spiked his head as it like went straight to the mat and he looked up at me, you know, he says, I'm you know, I'm dying, I'm dying. Those were his words. He was saying that. And I'm like, no, you're not, no, you're not. And I'm giving a sign, you know, I'm trying to get everybody up there to see about him. But uh Darren Dr. was, you know, one hell of a guy.

SPEAKER_03

And as far as Caleb Conley and JCW, uh, I have actually enjoyed Caleb's work, and and he's one of the guys that I've slowly gotten to know over time, always polite, always professional. Uh, and uh even sometimes when you want to hate him, you gotta respect him. So Caleb uh Caleb may be watching this. Uh, he does keep up with you on Facebook as well. Uh, Chris Nelms, you know who that is. Teddy says, Greg ran the NWA Fan Fest in North Carolina for many years.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, man. Yeah. Hey, Chris, what's going on, man? Looking for hope you're there because I haven't seen him in a while. And Chris, another super guy, man. He's dedicated his whole life to this wrestling business, and he's had a chance to make a name for himself. And I'm so proud of him. So, Chris, looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Chris is uh one of those guys that uh started uh in GIWA down in Milledgeville uh when I was performing down there. He was just a kid ringside uh that was watching and cheering or booing. His mom was a big fan of mine. Uh, and to see him continue in the wrestling world, man, I love seeing that. Uh, because they and you always knew he'd be one of those guys. If you ever met Chris Nels, you knew he'd be one of those lifers because he was so into, you know, he he was a mark first. And uh yeah, I think we all were.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, yeah, we're all marks.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, yeah. Uh Dave Crohn uh just kind of popping in saying, so good. And uh let's see, we also have uh fond in game uh grew nine gene. I don't know everything that you got there, but brother, thank you. Best promotion on stream uh steamboo.org. Uh okay, streamboo.org. I I don't even know what that means, to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you're on that side.

SPEAKER_03

Dave Crowe, Dave Crow saying, and we have not seen him today.

SPEAKER_00

But don't we don't want to see him?

SPEAKER_03

Mike Harold is saying, Teddy, any stories working with Roddy Piper?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, not really. Um, story I remember one time, God rest his soul. Uh we were overseas somewhere, and uh, golly, Simon Dean, I think that was the guy's name. And he was supposed to have been working with Piper. And something happened where he went and complained about something. He didn't want to do something. I don't know what happened. But anyway, uh, when he got ready to go to the ring or he got ready

Who We Still Wish We Met

SPEAKER_00

to get dressed, he went to look for his stuff, his clothes, you know, to get chains in. And they were all soaking wet. And uh somebody had put him in the shower, and I don't, you know, I don't know. But uh, you don't talk about you don't want to do something but ride a piper, idiot. No, no, no, no, oh dear God.

SPEAKER_03

Med Man Mig saying, I agree with Mac, fresh coat of paint on those guys. Yeah, that he's talking about the Wyatt Six, uh, and yeah, yeah, just need a fresh coat, something different.

SPEAKER_00

They would fit right in there because that's their style. Like I said, don't take away from them, but just give them a little something fresh. Give them stay with what they got and then add that JCW to it.

SPEAKER_03

I saw something the other day too, uh, for the JCW people that are in the room, that uh and when it comes to social media growth and the fastest growth area was JCW. It was at number three uh up against including you know everybody uh in the scene of all the majors, everybody uh showing the social media growth for JCW. So that that's great, uh guys, and uh keep that up, spread the word, spread the word. Um, let's see. We also have uh Connor saying, check out JCW Lunacy, everyone, tomorrow night at 7 p.m. And you can uh catch uh catch me on there. Whoop whoop. Okay, yeah, yeah, because Connor is uh one of our uh referees, too. He he does a great thing. He's saying his phone is dumb. That's why he's having a hard time with some of this, I think.

SPEAKER_00

So that's a that's just how you are when you're refereeing.

SPEAKER_03

That's Martin's daddy. Teddy, how big of a difference was there in a WWE WWE ring versus a WCW ring?

SPEAKER_00

Well, the WWE rings were a lot bigger. I think they were 18 and the WCW rings were 16. Yep. But that New York ring, that WWE ring, that was huge. I mean, that thing was nice and it was great to work in.

SPEAKER_03

Was there as a referee when you had worked in those 16-foot rings for so long before you got to WWE, did you have to kind of learn a new pace in the ring or anything because of the distance and the difference of the size?

SPEAKER_00

But not so much as that. You know, now you got more room. That's what you got to look for. Now, you know, when you could could step and you're right there, now you gotta run to get right

Owen Hart And Big Boss Man Memories

SPEAKER_00

there, you know. But uh, like once you once you get going there, you know, it all comes right to you, it falls right in place.

SPEAKER_03

Sham town, uh Ted Mu saying, if you could be so kind, guys, I'm gonna be greedy and ask another question. You can ask as many as you want. Teddy, Teddy, who's on your Mount Rush more of the cheapest wrestlers' personalities? That's a good one. Give me four of the cheapest people you know, Teddy.

SPEAKER_00

JBO.

SPEAKER_03

John, I hope you're listening right now.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I'd have to include myself in that. Okay. Yeah. I'm pretty cheap. Uh uh let's see. Maybe I I you know, I won't. I was thinking about Ron, you know, he's a little stingy, but sometimes he'll splurge a little bit. But he's he's kind of a little stingy too. Um god me. I don't know who that last one could be.

SPEAKER_03

Let me ask you this who was the stingiest female.

SPEAKER_00

God, of course, the stingiest female. God, I don't if it'd be anybody, I think it'd be Jackie Moore.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Miss Jackie, I didn't know he was gonna go there. I love Miss Jackie, she is such a sweetheart, and I see she's still out there doing the conventions and doing her rounds, and uh that's fantastic. Uh she is we last time we saw her was in Jacksonville, I guess it was about a year and a half ago or so.

SPEAKER_00

Or uh I saw a Lazaru in Vegas.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, in Vegas. Well, yeah, well, I was there, but I didn't get around. Uh yeah, but uh so it's yeah, that's just rude. I'm sorry, Miss Jackie. Madman Mick is saying, sorry, I come with a non-wrestling questions. No, but hey, look, we we don't mind that either. Uh ask us anything, it doesn't have to be about wrestling. Uh that's something that we talked about at the very beginning. Yeah, don't ask for money. Uh would love to meet Snoop. Teddy, how many times have you met Snoop? Uh, three or four times, I think. The first time you met him, was that the first time you smoked with him? Or was it?

SPEAKER_00

No, that was the first time. It was Orlando, uh, Florida, and we were there, we were there for a show there, and uh, he was there. And uh, so he had this uh he had this trailer. So we go inside the trailer, you know, uh to see who me, I think Randy Orton. So we go inside the trailer there, and so there's a guy sitting in the corner there, and he made a he made $1,500 a week, and all he did was just roll blunts. That was his job, just to roll. And he sits right, and so I talked to him, he told me Snoop paid him that, you know, just to roll. And uh, so to keep his smell down, I didn't even know it until when I found out about it. It was so funny. Snoop had his uncle or somebody met him in. They went and bought a barbecue grill, and they brought the grill back and they put it outside the trailer, and so they started barbecuing so that would kill the smell.

SPEAKER_03

That's smart though. That's really smart. Especially as long as you're cooking on it, it's smart. If it's just sitting there, you gotta get it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they were cooking, they were cooking on it, you know. They were grilling, you know, but that that smell, you know, kept the we kept the weed smell down because, you know, there's tops everywhere and people smelling. But that was the first time I had a chance. Also, I had a chance to meet Kim Kardashian. She was there, and I think she was dating Reggie's somebody, the football player, played for the Saints, I believe, back in the day. Reggie, something I can't remember his name, but I met her, but uh that but that was the first time I had a chance to smoke with Snoop.

SPEAKER_03

Now be honest, Kim Kardashian's ass. How big was it, Teddy?

SPEAKER_00

Humongous.

SPEAKER_03

In person, I imagine it's even looks bigger than it does on TV.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. That was a that I had a chance to meet her.

SPEAKER_03

All right, you guess that look who's in here, Teddy. I'll let you say that I can't say that. You can go ahead. You're your turn. You say it.

SPEAKER_00

I cannot pronounce that. I have no idea.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yes, you can. I'm I'm gonna tell I'm gonna come talk to Vince. I'm gonna call Vince on the phone and say, Teddy can't say this word.

SPEAKER_00

I don't care. I'll tell him. I can't tell that's all I know.

SPEAKER_03

You did it right. Is in here going, What's up? Pee-wee is in the room too, saying, What up, Mac? What up, Teddy? What up, Pee-wee? And of course, is saying, What alcohol do y'all get a smell of uh that gives you flashbacks to crazy times? Oh, that's easy in y'all's life, Teddy.

SPEAKER_00

I don't get around alcohol no more, so I don't really get the smell. I never drank alcohol in 15 years.

SPEAKER_03

So I can smell tequila to this day, and uh it does not bring back uh great memories from my from my childhood. That that stuff was just rough, and as I got older, I realized I was drinking the wrong stuff because it can make you kind of mean, and uh, you know, and I'm not a mean guy, so yeah, but uh I can smell it now. I was like too many times where I used to go. There used to be a 7-Eleven type of situation where

Droz’s Accident And A Hard Day

SPEAKER_03

I live called Starvin Marvin.

SPEAKER_00

I remember them. Do you I remember them?

SPEAKER_03

And man, I'd go out and get sick as a dog on River Street drinking and drinking, and then we end up going behind Starvin Marvin, and I would barf my guts out. So we started coughing it calling it barfin marvin.

SPEAKER_00

That's where they sold gas and they had a little car wash on the side.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, they sure did.

SPEAKER_00

I used to live with the one I was I was living in Maple, and I used to get right across the street from Starvin Marvin.

SPEAKER_03

Oh man, yeah, that that was that was our barfing Marvin after a lot of drinking and going and again going to places like Crystal afterwards, filling your stomach full up of all those crystals. Jesus. Oh man. Uh that's that still sounds like fun right now. Michael Lotta saying, hey players, checking in from Vegas this week. Teddy, can you explain walking with Dutch Mantel? Working, I guess, maybe with uh Dutch Mantel.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, working with Dutch. Uh um Dutch and I went back in the day uh when I was refereeing. Uh I think a little bit we worked together when I was in WWE. Uh, I think he was managing Jack Squank and now they're doing the gimmick we the people. But uh Dutch and I, you know, we've always just spoken and had a little bit of a conversation with each other. He's always been nice and respectful of me. And uh one time I think he said something about me, put me over, you know, and he it was really nice and it really surprised me because it was something like I say, I always pay attention to what people do that they don't have to do. So what he did for me, he didn't have to do that. So, but it was a surprise. But I thanked him and I appreciate that. So that let me know, you know, how he really felt about me.

SPEAKER_03

Curly man saying, Hey Teddy, what was your experience in the storyline with the WWE, where all referees were on strike, and Jimmy Corderas crossed the picket line and got beat up by the other referees. Did he get legitimately hurt?

SPEAKER_00

Uh no, the few referees that kind of laid it in on him. Some of those guys, you know, they didn't know how to work on purpose. Yeah, that not they didn't mean it, but they there's some of them and did some of them are laughing about it, so they could really get on him, you know. They'll just beat him to death.

SPEAKER_03

Madman Mick is saying I've been covering JCW every week on my channel since episode 60 and love doing it. Yeah, and I always I watch your show each and every week, too. I I I do go uh watch that. Guys, go do that if you want to find out about the latest on JCW. He does a quick roundup of what happened on the latest episode and does a fantastic job too. Uh, also we have Joseph Carpenter saying, Mr. Long, are you saving your TV box? TV box. Look behind you, Teddy. Look behind you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I yeah, yeah, yes, I am saving my TV box. And the reason why, in case something happens to my TV and I have to take it back because I do buy the warranty on them, then I have the box

Roddy Piper Backstage Payback

SPEAKER_00

to put it in. Yes, I am saving that. Thank you very much.

SPEAKER_03

He'll save it until he buys another one, then it'll throw the box and the TV out.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'll try to take this one back and get another one for free. Of course you will, you cheap ass. That's why I got that box.

SPEAKER_03

Pee Wee saying, What up back? What up, Teddy? Uh, which night have WWE SummerSlam night one or night two? Uh, I guess he's asking which one am I more interested in? Teddy, are you keeping up with that at all? The know who's wrestling who and when yeah, a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm keeping up with a little bit. I think uh the first night I'd be interested in watching.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that there's several matches that I'm interested in, but the main match that I'm really interested in is probably not one that most people will be. And that's Nick Aldous and uh Gunther. I that to me, I'm interested to see what they're gonna do with Nick because Teddy, you and I both know he's incredible in the ring, and I keep feeling like man, we he we're missing opportunities with him. So I'm glad to see that they're now gonna utilize him at least once as a wrestling uh figure.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you know, if it'd been me, I'd have I'd have left it at uh him and uh Mr. Raw Guy.

SPEAKER_03

Uh you're talking about the other general manager?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, uh oh man, I can't remember his name either right now that you mentioned it, but he is a former NWA champion.

SPEAKER_00

So that's what I'm saying. I'd have had the match Adam Pierce, I'd have had the match between those two. Okay. Now I don't know who's gonna come out on top there, you know. But I mean, but right after that, then here comes Gunner.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

You know, so now you got a little bit to you know, you got a little program going there, you know. I'd but people would have really wanted to see him and uh

The Mount Rushmore Of Cheap Wrestlers

SPEAKER_00

that the the raw GM. I mean, I I I thought about it. I'd like to see it.

SPEAKER_03

I would like to see that this may happen to lead us into some history of him and Cody Rhodes, uh, because you know they both have uh one match wins against each other, so there's a rubber match coming somewhere down the line, and and it really was a high profile match. I it's hard not to acknowledge the fact that for a lot of people, that particular competition in the NWA when it was Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldous uh for the 10 pounds of gold, one of the reasons why people got back into wrestling again. That's just being completely honest. You know, a lot of people were excited by the way they built that, and uh that's that's where they are. So I do see that another chance down the line of that third rubber match happening with Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldous. Uh let's see, uh, we're gonna have to wrap this up in just a minute here. Medman Mick saying, Teddy, did you ever spend time out in Portland wrestling at all? Or any memories of Playboy Buddy Rose? Not sure if you ever worked with him or not.

SPEAKER_00

No, I never didn't meet uh Playboy Buddy Rose, and I never did spend any time out in uh Portland wrestling.

SPEAKER_03

All right, uh let's see. We also have Matt saying, Hey Mac and Teddy, hope you're both doing well. I have a question for both of y'all. What are your favorite funniest experiences with the Iron Sheik?

SPEAKER_00

Ah, one time that's a good story. One time we uh we was in uh San um Corpus Christi, and so we had to go back to San Antonio. So, as on our way back to San Antonio, there's the Border Patrol there, you gotta stop. Well, the Border Patrol had already stopped some of the guys that were like left in front of us, and had the guys that get out, sign autographs and stuff for

Snoop Dogg’s Trailer And Kim Kardashian

SPEAKER_00

them, take pictures with them. So the guy comes over to us, and so we get out of the car. It's me, Sheik, and uh Nick Patrick. He'll tell you this story. So we get out of the car and so we walk inside this trailer, and inside this trailer, there's soon as you walk in, there's like two big bales of marijuana, and they're sitting on the side of the wall. Well, and then you look back, and there's a look like a little jail cell back there, and they got two people locked up. They're so serious they got the dog. Well, they had a hit out on the dog, I heard. So they got the dog and had him tied up behind the trailer. So it was a hit on the dog? It had a hit out on the dog. The border patrol told us that. They wanted to kill that dog. Oh my god. So anyway, we get in there, so all of a sudden, she, you know, we go get pictures and stuff, so you know, we sign for the guy. And the next thing I know, Sheik looks over at him, he says to him, he says, Sir Bubba, I don't Sheik sign a picture for your mother. Maybe you give him a sample. So me and Nick look at him like, oh my God. He's asking the border patrol to give him a sample of this weed that is hanging out of this big bell over there. Um, and now we got weed in the car, mind you. So I'm like, oh God, man, I know we're done. And then they they they start laughing at him, you know, because they think he's not serious. And so the next thing, he's mad, he's hot at him. Oh I be damn, you're the motherfucker. Oh, he's just cussing him.

WWE Vs WCW Rings And SummerSlam Picks

SPEAKER_00

But cause they wouldn't give him a sample. And I told Nick, I don't I don't know what's gonna happen to us, man. But uh, so they finally, you know, they just laughed it off, man, and uh they let us run on. But he talked about all the way in the car. Get us mother the fuckers, never all he just went off, man.

SPEAKER_03

Oh dear God, yeah. Look, my story can't beat that, so I'm not even gonna try.

SPEAKER_00

He was funny, man.

SPEAKER_03

And he was. I mean, that there were many things about him that were hilarious, and I always wondered how much of it was legit that you would see in videos, you know, from time to time, he'd be actually really crazy.

SPEAKER_00

I told him why we asked him one time, this is another good one, too. You know, him and Savage, they didn't get along too good. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, yeah, they didn't get along. So somebody uh uh asked him, uh you know, why didn't he like Brandon Savage? You know, he bust us right out. Oh, he never done shared his drinks with me.

SPEAKER_03

That was the real shit, too. This poor granddaughter used to chase after him everywhere he went uh as he got older in life. Uh, he about ran me over in his little scooter. Uh and he, I mean, he was bare, he was coming straight for me. If I didn't jump out of the way, I'd been flat out of the room. Oh, you didn't need you.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you'd have to run right over you, brother. And I remember one time we had TV, and so they was getting a result. So, you know, they bought that took the drug test and they was getting the results. So I remember Vince walking up to him and told him that he tested positive, you know, he you know, for the drug test. Well, he didn't know the difference. And he said, Oh, positive? Oh, great, thank you. Super. And then Vince told, no, no, that means you fail. Okay, and then he went into

Iron Sheik’s Wild Border Patrol Story

SPEAKER_00

a whole different bag. Oh, you serious?

SPEAKER_03

Could he talk his way out of it at all? I mean, could he could stupid?

SPEAKER_00

You failed. You can't talk your way out of it. The man got the got the results in his hand.

SPEAKER_03

Guys, we've had a great time. I hope you enjoyed everything with us. Uh, we went a little bit longer than we normally do, but uh, just so many questions coming in. They're still coming in, but uh, we are gonna get cut off if I don't do it ourselves. Uh, so thank you very much for being by and stopping by and seeing us this week.
